Vincent-Young Facing Months Out With New Injury
Tuesday, 26th Nov 2019 22:38

Town boss Paul Lambert has revealed that right-back Kane Vincent-Young is facing months on the sidelines with a new groin injury.

The 23-year-old was expected to return to action this week after undergoing groin surgery last month but has suffered a new problem.

“He’s going to be out for a right long time, I think,” Lambert said. “I’ve just found out myself so I’ll need to find out [more], but he’s going to be out for a while.

“It’s a different injury to what he had. It’s come from the Southend game, it’s just happened. It’s up in the groin, I think it’s in the adductor area, which is going to be a bit of a blow.

“It’ll be a few months, I think. Not the end of the season, he’ll be back before that but it’ll be after the new year for sure.”

Lambert admitted the loss of the former Colchester man, who has made a huge impression since signing from the Essex club, is a big blow.

“Yes, absolutely, but Janoi Donacien’s come in and been excellent for us,” he added. “We’ll just have to get on with that and Kane I’m pretty sure will get on with it as well and get back as quick as he can.”

Lambert also confirmed that Flynn Downes missed tonight’s match due to illness rather than an injury.

“He had a virus, he wasn’t well,” he said. “That was a blow because he’s been excellent, but Emyr Huws went in and did really well, really, really well. Norwood’s come back, not done much training, that was a bonus. One or two are coming back.”

Just what we needed, after a good game for Donacien on Saturday he was terrible tonight. Awful referee somehow hasn't sent him off.

Nothing to do with the surgery. My a***. How did the Qatar surgeon get away with that excuse? What a farce. He had the f-ing surgery after the Southend game.

Tractor cam, what are you on about, donacien was terrible? What game you watching? And when should he have been sent off?

I thought Janoi Donacien had a very good game tonight, but I realise that football is a game of opinions...

Terrible news for Kane and us - he was in great form and gave us another dimension. Really hope that he recovers soon from this setback.

Bloody great...always happens to our most influential players, does seem strange to have an operation and then another groin injury has occurred...wiffs of incompetence.

Tractor cam what are you on. I'm not one of Donacien biggest fans but he held his own tonight and put in a good shift. Maybe not the result we wanted but really good game to be at. Norwood in my opinion needs to raise the bar as had very little impact in the game

Blues1 Donacien's awful touch gave away the ball which lead to the penalty,. Luckily didn't cost us the game, I didn't think he played well either.

This is bad news - KVY is an exiting player to watch bringing the ball out from the back. Sounds like we won't see him this side of Christmas.

Just to add, if the ref had not let play go on for the penalty incident then he could have got a second yellow for the foul after he gave the ball away.

Blue moses. So making one mistake means he was terrible? Presumably if you make one mistake at work youd say u were terrible at ur job? No, of course not. He had a good game. And his booking was a joke, as not even a foul.

Is anyone really surprised?

The fitness/injury records at this club over the few years are beyond a joke. Shame we are crap without him on the wing.

Should of read and they used to blame MM training methods for the injuries.
As I stated after Sat game not much has changed on or off the field not that I'm criticising PL HE is doing a good job all be it in league 1.
More of a critique of the frustrated managers on TWTD.

PL says Huws played well. No he didn't. He was lightweight, well off the pace, bad touches. Clearly needs games, confidence.

Terrible news re KVY, but hopefully a quick healer. And don't know what certain people are saying, Janoi has had 2 terrific games on the bounce after being out the picture for so long. A couple of mistakes late on when he was clearly blowing were almost inevitable as he gave his all !

Doctor Edmund o I wish I was as clever as you ,being able to spot a surgeon's mistake without even looking at it.next time a player goes under the knife give mr.Lambert a call so youcan check it over.

Sad news as KVY is massive for the team going forward. He can keep the ball beat defenders cross the ball and score goals. Donacien has improved but he cannot do any of the above and is limited imo. He's had a couple of decent games and hopefully he will improve on his crossing and ball retention. He's an athlete who works hard. Wishing KVY a speedy recovery

I'm confused, happened at the Southend game? That was a few weeks ago so why so little info? More lies and spin coming out of PR than the election campaign!

Donacien should have got a second yellow in the build up to the pen, but the ref got all excited coz he could give them a pen and forgot it.

I thought he was ok last night, not as good as sat, and I would argue that the foul he made was sacrificial to stop their break 5 mins from time, so possibly the right thing to do.

As it's turned out we've had a result with KVY out, no red card = no suspension. Maybe the only good thing you can say about that ref!

Actually now I think about it, he won the ball in the tackle for the first yellow right in front of us, so maybe shouldn't have been sent off overall
