EFL Board Meeting This Morning
Wednesday, 18th Mar 2020 09:47

The EFL board is set to hold a meeting via conference call this morning to discuss the future of the 2019/20 campaign, which is currently suspended until April 3rd.

EFL chairman Rick Parry will chair the meeting with three representatives from the Championship, two from League One, one from League Two and two independent executives from the EFL board.

Yesterday, the 24 Championship clubs met by video conference and all back the completion of the season if it is possible.

Town general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill has also backed that approach, although admitted to TWTD yesterday that it may not be possible.

UEFA yesterday postponed Euro 2020 to the summer of 2021 and reached an agreement with various other bodies that 2019/20 domestic campaigns across Europe should be completed by June 30th.

Very difficult to see how ,or even if, finite time scales can be properly contemplated ,particularly at this stage .
BUT if Clubs decide they do wish each league competition played out ,then in principle that decision can be taken ,though no time scale ought to be anyhere near a proposal until a more accurate analysis of the medical, clinical crisis is available .
Let’s hope for wisdom and a clear debate which we can all respect !

There is not likely to be an ideal scenario, the season not being completed is not an option IMHO. Get it done even if it’s behind closed doors!

Great Dissboy - so what happens when Southend have a full.squad available whilst we lose our entire team to Cornoavirus for two weeks as one has a cough. Just as much a liability as at present for suing etc. Not possible. A void season is the only option... Unless this goes on so long that we only come out of quarantine this time next year and just don't have a 20/21 season at all.

I did say there was not an ideal scenario. And how likely is the scenario you suggest???? Not really very likely at all!
