Blue Action Plan Organised Protest
Tuesday, 15th Dec 2020 09:52

Independent supporters group Blue Action has announced plans to hold an organised protest prior to the home game against Swindon Town on Saturday 9th January.

Blue Action was formed at the start of the 2018/19 season in order to try to improve the atmosphere at home games via banners, stickers and the introduction of new songs, and more recently have produced a fanzine.

Early on in manager Paul Lambert’s tenure they were invited to the training ground to talk about the atmosphere at Portman Road as the incoming boss sought to improve relations between the club and its fans.

But latterly, with the Blues again appearing to be drifting towards mid-table in League One, they have spoken out about the club’s situation and called for the departure of Lambert on a banner hung on the gates at Playford Road.

They subsequently draped another banner on the perimeter fence at Portman Road reading “Tick-tock Marcus, the future of the club is at stake”.

They announced the planned demonstration in a statement on their social media accounts this morning.

So if I understand this some seem to believe Marcus Evans puts money in the club to lose it, no matter how much it is, he does not care what division we are in so long as he keeps losing money! Lots of people waste money on their hobby but he must be taking it to the extreme. By all accounts he has made a lot of money from his businesses which he can spend anyway he wants to. He has made bad decisions on the managers he has employed, lots thought that Paul Hurst was a good idea as he appeared to be a bright young manager, he was promoted beyond his capabilities. Lambert at the start of this season was hailed as a good manager apart from those on here who of course could see the only reason was the teams we were playing, those experts who have never taken charge of a league team apart from Football Manager on a computer. I have always been optimistic about or team except when MM was here sucking the lifeblood out of my enthusiasm. Yes we are crap at present but hopefully things will improve who can say unless they are psychic. ITFC will always be my club, after over fifty years following them I know no more than others about what to do to get this us to the promised land but hopefully it will be in my lifetime.

Whilst I fully agree with the protest, I fear it will make absolutely zero difference! Evan's isn't going to change tack, and neither is Lambert. I dont usually agree with BettyBlue but as she says the only way to inflict change is to vote with your feet. Hoping Santa brings us something to cheer about. COYB! I wont be able to take it anymore if we lose tonight.

Get behind the players and the manager. Evans keeps the club afloat. Lambert will build a team, it just takes time when you cant spend loads of cash. We do not have enough supporters to compete with the big teams anymore. We might get a few seasons in the prem every few decades and that's about it. (And this is from someone who started supporting Town in 1977! )

if we're don't win tonight you have my authority to boo the manager, the whole backroom staff, the players, the subs, the ball boys ......

Protest is the correct way to go, and as a fan of this club for over 45 years, it's clear we are heading in completely the wrong direction, those who back Lambert need to bore off, he has been an awful appointment from day 1,how some fans still feel they can support this clown is unbelievable. And those that defend Marcus Evans, well that's is just indefensible, yes he saved us, but if he continues in the way he is, we wont have a club anymore to moan about. Although maybe another defeat at home to Burton tonight, who are bottom of the league and just as hopeless as us, may lead to Ex Celtic and Ex Borussia Dortmund superstar(i think that's who he played for, but stand to be corrected)get sacked or he even may walk, we can only dream of that happening and live in hope. On a positive note, I'm sure we will win tonight, we must do, mustn't we...…..i mean Burton are poor...…right.

Wake up people even with the injured players fit lamberts record is atrocious, he is tactically inept and has no idea what to do when plan A fails. Being grateful to have a club is fine but will you have the same opinion when we get relegated to league 2 or non league, because that's where we are heading under marcus Evans. Don't have a go at the people trying to make a difference we all care about the club. I for one will be at the protest

Countryboy this forum is for all and why shouldnt Blue Action be able to voice themselves on here or anywhere else, its not just for the happy clappers !. Perhaps if there are so many Happy Clapping Fans you can create your own group/forum , You and Dolphin .

Yes, there needs to be change. I do agree with the point made by Europablue, why campaign for the change without any suggestion of what you're campaigning for? Change itself is not an answer. So many calling for Evans' head, what if he leaves? That's the only option right now as there is NO Buyer! Unless someone knows better? And before I'm accused of being a "Happy clapper", a "serf" or any other of the terms that get banded around on here I would be more than happy to see Evans sell.......all we need is a billionaire with a tendency for snapping up lge1 football clubs that are 100m in debt and growing by around 10m a year.

Unless the protest has a clear aim I don't see what it achieves. "We want better" without explaining what exactly needs changing is a little unfair. Don't get me wrong, it's good people are standing up to the club but a clear message is needed. As much as opinions between fans on exactly what the club should be doing I'm sure there is lots of common ground we agree on regarding the detachment we feel due to Evans running the club from the shadows leaving us to be ignored. I think we've had enough of talking to his succession of monkeys, we need the organ grinder. Failing that I only see the detachment and hostility grow. Lambert was halfway there, he got the players and fans on same side, for a while, it's a shame the man with the power was still outside the tent pissing in.

BA81, I'm interested to know what part of my post you disagree with? Doesn't bother me, just curious as to how a Psycologist sees things changing moving forward?

Bluewak, just some questions as I'm genuinely curious as to how a town fan can criticise fans wanting to express theitlr dissatisfaction at our miserable state. On what grounds can you defend Evans and his 13 year tenure of failure? When would be the time to act and express our dissatisfaction and demand for better, league 2, non league? Haven't Blackpool, Coventry etc fans shown that fans coming together can effect change? Isn't it part of a fans job to stand up for their club when it's being so badly managed? Isn't it almost a dereliction of duty therefore not to? Thanks

Saxon, I disagree with the sentiment. You infer that fans, if they are to protest should have all the answers, should have a buyer lined up or a manager in mind. I disagree. I think it is perfectly within fans right to voice their unhappiness and their sense of disatisfaction at their being so badly run. Putting it right and deciding how to do it isn't there job though! Thry may have their own ideas but that's not their role. It's the role of the management to do their job properly and to sort out an ailing football club if they are running it so poorly and perfectly acceptable for fans to merely demand such for their club.

I cannot believe some of the posts on here today, thank you Blue Action for having the balls to demonstrate what many fans think but will not go against the club. Are we all happy to watch a team poorly coached and continuing to lose to top 6 teams since last season. What does worry me is that Evans maybe the man putting money into our club, but has no idea on how to run a football club. Will Evans 13 poorly managed years continue by employing another failure of a manager.
Who gave Lambert a 5 year contract last January when we were falling down the table.
Before down voting me, just remember since Evans reign we reached a play off semi final and reached the semi final of the League Cup, other than that nothing. We reached the 4th round of the FA Cup once, no Wembley visits, no cup runs and crowds dwindling. Do I have to go on.

For those trotting out the ‘Marcus saved us' argument, one simple question. Saved us for what exactly?

All he has achieved in thirteen, yes thirteen, years is relentless decline. We are playing at our lowest level for more than sixty years. We have a squad full of has beens, sick notes and players who half the time do not look to be even League Two standard. The Club itself, once the heart of the community, is now a laughingstock with no sign of the decline stopping.

If this is being ‘saved' I don't want anymore of it!

I agree that fans have a right to voice their opinion, but there does need to be an agenda. I would be happy to see a change of manager, but don't believe it's always the answer. I wasn't a "Mick out"er, but could appreciate some of the arguments for him to go. Evans is a different matter entirely. We can't sack the owner and simply appoint a new one, so what is the answer? In my opinion we need to pray he doesn't walk, as a club in turmoil still has a chance....a club without an owner has no chance at all.

Bluearmy_81 added 18:53 - Dec 15
How would we end up without an owner? Evans 'walking' would mean a great English club with a proud history up for grabs. At the right price there would be multiple suitors, 2 offers were turned down by Evans recently. Do you think he had the club or himself at those times as his priority?!

Failing businesses fold BA81. It really is that simple. How do Debenhams end up without an owner? Arcadia group? Different sector of course, but fundamentally failed business in debt with no takeover bid

I can't see it Saxon. Since when has a club the size of Ipswich gone out of existence?! We are not compatible to Bury. He knows he won't get all the debt back, he's said he would write it off. There would be a buyer at a reasonable price. The alternative may see us going out of business sooner than you think anyway! Most extreme case of 'better the devil you know' ever!!

Slade and Moscow, At last some sane people on here. Why do people keep saying that 12 ton 13 players out injured is some sort of excuse, they are injured for goodness sake how on earth do people make that into an excuse is beyond me. Encourage and support not kick the players/ Lambert to death.
