Blue Action Stage Playford Road Demonstration
Monday, 15th Feb 2021 14:24

Independent supporters group Blue Action let off flares as part of a demonstration during training at Playford Road this morning, again calling for the sacking of manager Paul Lambert.

Blue Action have previously draped banners from the gates at the training ground and perimeter fencing at Portman Road, where they also recently attached a newspaper-style poster to the gates.

This demonstration during this morning’s training session involved a flag, a banner and the letting off of smoke bombs and flares from outside the perimeter fence, as well as chants of ‘We want Lambert out’ with a video subsequently posted on social media along with the message 'Save our season, sack Paul Lambert'.

On the video, assistant manager Stuart Taylor can be heard remonstrating with the protestors as smoke drifts across the field.

Blue Action was formed at the start of the 2018/19 season in order to try to improve the atmosphere at home games via banners, stickers and the introduction of new songs, and more recently have produced a fanzine.

Early on in manager Lambert’s tenure they were invited to the training ground to talk about the atmosphere at Portman Road as the incoming boss sought to improve relations between the club and its fans.

But more recently, with the Blues again having drifted into mid-table in League One, they have spoken out about the club’s situation and called for the departure of Lambert on a banner hung on the gates at Playford Road.

They subsequently draped another banner on the perimeter fence at Portman Road reading “Tick-tock Marcus, the future of the club is at stake”.

A planned protest ahead of the Swindon game in January was postponed due to the lockdown.

Former srtriker Darren Bent commented on the latest protest on Twitter.

Fans turn up with flares and there's lots of smoking and chanting?!

Look at the crowd at the Wembley final in 1978.

You'll see loads of that.

Wouldn't normally support such , especially at ITFC , BUT things have been allowed to get to this stage as a result of terrible Management of the footballing aspects of our Club ,and because poor old Lambert has become a shambolic representative of the standards and values we all want from and of our Club .
If PL doesn't read anything then at least he will be aware of this physical interruption to his so called concentration on other aspects of his life !
I cannot imagine David Sheepshankseithe approves , nor can I imagine he would have sat back and allowed PL to dig such a hole ; serious counsel on so many aspects, including how to decently and properly handle the media would have quickly brought about reconciliation and change for the better .
It's no good Marcus Evans allowing himself perfect luxury of observing from afar , he needs to be on the scene , evidencing his concerns ,sharing his views and receiving representation in person from so many True Blues who are daily being turned off and feel their loyalty to the Club under threat !
Cannot be any question we expect and deserve better – the man to start the ball rolling is ME but attended closely by PL ,if the latter has the courage ,stomach and honesty to be there !
Something has to change : weekend , weeks and days are threatened regularly by the current misery brought on by PL's hopelessness .
Cannot be concerned at all for the players ; they are aware ,don't need to be sheltered !
COYB
PS And why are we seeing the lieutenants constantly facing the music : man up PL and face it yourself !!

Still in lockdown. They will not win much support with this.

Bluearmy why am I not surprised you agree with this childish behaviour. Quotes comparing it to the Romans !!
Grow up .
Oh and of course your standard quote implying that anyone who disagrees isn't a 'real' fan ! . No they're just maybe a bit more grown up than you.

It is good to see a few more having the courage and common sense to speak out against these pathetic idiots. What a great way for the players to prepare for tomorrow's game.

Well done blue action , it a shame there's not more of us doing the same , we're not just a small club in sleepy Suffolk we are more than that !! I am one who is very proud of our club and passionate about our club and that is a word a lot of our fans need, passion and not just left to the north stand . We have gone backwards under Lambert and that is plain to see. Surly by f–k if we lose tomorrow he must go no sorry , if we don't win tomorrow he must go .

Completely embarrassed by this.
No, I am not happy with where we are, no I do not think Lambert is the right man for the job. However, there is a pandemic going on and we are in lockdown. What happened today is clearly illegal. I'm guessing no one at the ‘protest' has had anyone close die from COVID or know anyone that is working in the stresses of the critical care unit at the hospital??
I'm all for peaceful protesting, we live in a world of democracy and free speech after all although some on here don't seem to understand what that means.

DBH, I think the analogy to Nero is pretty obvious, I think most can see its relevance. "Grow up" is probably the laziest comment you find on social media so it doesn't surprise me you're using it. There are town fans with pride and passion who demand better for their club and there are 'fans' who can't be arsed to put any time effort or energy into trying to change things and are happy to just sit in passive blissful apathy as their club sinks into the abyss. I know who I'd deem proper 'fan'atics to my mind...

If you don't support those going about trying to effect change you basically have the same stance as Evans, this dross, 12th in div 3, is good enough for ITFC, it is acceptable. Consider yourself a fan if you like... 🤔

So anyone that doesn't agree with breaking the law or doesn't agree that the people ‘protesting' were putting anyone else in danger aren't passionate? Don't talk to me about passion bluearmy81. I have followed this club all over Europe, ploughed thousands of pounds supporting the club I love. Don't talk to me about pride either. One of the proudest moments of my life was when my ten year old son stood on his chair, took his town top off and whirled it around his head when we went one up against Norwich.
But I guess none of that counts if you don't agree with what Blue Action done today or anything that Bluearmy81 says. Guess I'm a ‘Happy Clapper'

Guess you are. I remember (just) when we last beat Norwich, I was there. Magics last game. Downhill ever since, a generation of failure. Part of a fans duty is to stand up for their club if it is getting destroyed.

I'm not happy with the direction the club has been heading for years but don't do that, it makes us look even more stupid. Protest at the game next time we can all go or don't go when we can. There is no chance ME will sack PL anytime soon particularity when we have so many games left even though we all know we are stuck in L1 for many seasons. Hurt ME in the pocket by cancelling Season Tickets, not going in club shop or buying matches on ifollow.

This will get some publicity but to really hurt Evans and force him to realise his time here is done cancel season tickets!

That will get the touts attention!

Evans out!

Well done BA. Ignore the happy clappers/fake fans who condemn this - they are just stubborn old fu*ks who will never say anything. We don't want or need them. The time for serious action is now! #EvansOut #PELeeOut #PRPaulOut

Bluearmy the fact that you think that anyone who disagrees with your viewpoint lacks passion , or loves the club less than you is hugely arrogant and very immature.
So actually....why am I surprised!

My Grandson reminded me that the law is not being broken during the lockdown if you go on a protest, providing you obey the guidance set by the Goverment. See https://www.lbhf.gov.uk/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-19-guidance-people-participat for information.

Even the Government during a lockdown will not ban protests, (it might want too and Lambert and Evans might want to as well). In the UK we are a democracy and have freedom within the law of the land and long may it continue.

sad that our club and its loyal fans have had to take this sort of action but theses are the only thing the idiots in charge will take notice of. The problems at Ipswich Town clearly are huge and have been there for many years and it's my own belief that Chambers has far too much influence and needs to be moved on. We need to get back to Ipswich people in charge at ipswich.
