Blue Action Stage Playford Road Demonstration
Monday, 15th Feb 2021 14:24

Independent supporters group Blue Action let off flares as part of a demonstration during training at Playford Road this morning, again calling for the sacking of manager Paul Lambert.

Blue Action have previously draped banners from the gates at the training ground and perimeter fencing at Portman Road, where they also recently attached a newspaper-style poster to the gates.

This demonstration during this morning’s training session involved a flag, a banner and the letting off of smoke bombs and flares from outside the perimeter fence, as well as chants of ‘We want Lambert out’ with a video subsequently posted on social media along with the message 'Save our season, sack Paul Lambert'.

On the video, assistant manager Stuart Taylor can be heard remonstrating with the protestors as smoke drifts across the field.

Blue Action was formed at the start of the 2018/19 season in order to try to improve the atmosphere at home games via banners, stickers and the introduction of new songs, and more recently have produced a fanzine.

Early on in manager Lambert’s tenure they were invited to the training ground to talk about the atmosphere at Portman Road as the incoming boss sought to improve relations between the club and its fans.

But more recently, with the Blues again having drifted into mid-table in League One, they have spoken out about the club’s situation and called for the departure of Lambert on a banner hung on the gates at Playford Road.

They subsequently draped another banner on the perimeter fence at Portman Road reading “Tick-tock Marcus, the future of the club is at stake”.

A planned protest ahead of the Swindon game in January was postponed due to the lockdown.

Former srtriker Darren Bent commented on the latest protest on Twitter.

There's a lot of fools on here - if you think NO ACTION is an option. Bit like buying a new house and watching it fall apart. Would you do nothing and behave politely?! That's partly what's wrong with ITFC - the acceptance of failure by its supporters - give up their hard earned money and see it waste away for no return and allow others to take advantage of you. Shallow and no substance. Carry on and we will have no Club.

DO NOTHING EXPECT NOTHING

Will people please realise that ifollow is an EFL thing & nothing to do with Evans.
Hurt Evans in the pocket by not renewing your ST by all means. Blue Army have bigger balls than me, fair play to ‘em!

Clearly this has polarised opinion as I haven't seen this many positives and negatives on the same news item.

All I will say is that the powers-that-be should never have let it get this far.

Embarrassing behaviour and I don't call anyone involved in it ‘fans'..... merely bored twenty somethings (maybe early thirties now) or younger throwing their toys out of their prams because they are not getting their own way! Adult life and business doesn't work like that. You know and I know that Sir Bobby Robson would tell fans to support the team, players and club - today's pathetic action does absolutely nothing to help the players at all. With ‘fans' like that any of our younger talent would just want to get away from that toxic ‘fan' behaviour. Ironically BA will be the first to cry and moan when ME ‘sells' young talent when in truth it will be young players wanting to get away from the moaning minnies who let flares off at training ground and create aggro on social media (older players may ignore social media and the morons but younger players WILL trawl through social media and read all the rubbish affecting their mindset on and off the pitch.

and TWTD can't wait to get PL gone so they are back in their press conferences - rather obvious with their negative spin when they can

Inaction, hand wringing and apathy are all factors that have contributed in allowing this club to drift and drift to the point of the embarrassment that was the Peterborough game...mocked on national radio the following day... and still the tut tutting crowd haplessly hold to some refined belief that things will change...Blue Action took an affirmative position today in trying to gain momentum through the media... if there had been crowds at Portman Road would this farce have been allowed to continue?... in this Covid world a noisy kettle was heard today ....and if more noise is generated then there may at least be some urgently needed change

Well done lads----Evans needs a rocket up his arse to wale him up.

This also made Sky News so it was certainly not a waste of time-----I follow Dutch football and a few years ago the F C Utrecht fans were very unhappy so they burnt their stadium to the ground.

The new one is very nice.

Well that's a first....20 dislikes!!!!

Nice to see that like minded people such as Bert, Karlos and MarkB respect that others have an opinion too.

There's a thin line between right and wrong and in my opinion it was crossed. The argument I agree with and we need a change of direction within the Club. Getting rid of Jim Magilton was Evans first mistake and employing people such as Roy Keane was a disaster. This is the guy who got rid of Jordan Rhodes and wanted to change our strip colour to RED

If Evans had invested prudently year on year bringing in OUR own quality players we would not be in the mess we are in now.

Yes I also remember the glory days winning the 1st Division (Premiership now), Promotions and Relegations, F.A. Cup success, EUFA Cup and promotion to the Premiership again. Wonderful days and even during some dodgy times in the 60s we still managed to play exciting and entertaining football. No one present will forget the speedy Joe Broadfoot cutting in from the right wing and scoring amazing goals.

Sadly the Club is light years away from those days and we desparately need change, but please let's go about it in the IPSWICH way.

Personally, I'll support anything pro-active (and within the law) that draws attention to our club's demise.
If the time to take a stand ISN'T now, when is it? How low must we fall before people protest and take a stand? If we wait too long there might be nothing left for us to save.
I say: Good job Blue Action, and I hope this is merely the first of many protests to come in the time ahead.

Razor - unbelievable comment .
So A ) us making Sky News makes any action worthwhile !?
B) You're suggesting we burn the stadium down !?
Shows the level of intelligence I guess.

The trouble is at the top. A majority shareholder ( not a Chairman or even a Director) wants to run the Club without any possibility of his actions being questioned by anyone with authority. Hence all of the directors going two days after he took over. Now just a lap dog mouthpiece insider entitled General Manager. Joke. Also just two directors now, unconnected to the old regime, who we never see or hear from. Another couple of lap dogs l guess. Evans was out of his depth from the start, but doesn't seem to realise it. Will he sell? Who would buy a Lge1 club with £100M debt. Can Evans sell, who knows what due diligence would reveal? Best thing would be for him to appoint Sheepie as a non exec Chairman, headhunt the very best CEO possible and the same with a Director of Football, Directors of Marketing/Retail, Finance, and some non execs like Bellingham, Kerr etc.
