Banished Duo Angered By Manager's Comments
Friday, 19th Feb 2021 17:33

Banished-to-the-U23s pair Jon Nolan and Kayden Jackson are understood to be furious with manager Paul Lambert’s comments about them at this morning’s press conference.

As previously reported, Jackson angered Lambert with his red card against Sunderland, while Nolan expressed his frustration to the manager after travelling to Crewe and not finding out until shortly before kick-off that he wasn’t in the 18.

Lambert hit back at today’s press conference saying, “I won’t have a player [Nolan], any player come to me and say they’d rather be at home with the wife and kids. If that’s your mentality you’re better doing that."

He added: “They’ve let the club down, let themselves down, let their team-mates down.”

According to the EADT, the duo are angry that their professionalism was called into question.

Lambert made clear his frustration with Jackson for his 10th-minute red card for a studs-up challenge immediately after the Sunderland match.

Nolan played 70 minutes of that game and wasn’t named in the team which was due to play at Crewe but travelled and expected to be among the subs, only to find out he was the man left out via the teamsheet an hour or so before kick-off with no direct communication from the management.

The 27-year-old Merseysider approached Lambert on the Monday about having made the trip to be left on the sidelines when he could otherwise have been at home with his wife and six-month-old, leading to him joining Jackson in be ostracised, leading to an angry exchange.

Nolan is yet to make a public comment but Jackson defended himself on Twitter on Wednesday after suggestions that his exile related to the club rebuffing approaches for him on deadline day.

As previously reported, Huddersfield made a late loan approach for the 26-year-old, despite Lambert claiming earlier today that there had been no interest in the pair.

Nolan was understood to be interesting Rotherham, Wigan and Peterborough in the final hours of the window.

@zondervantheman yes I would have sympathy for the lorry driver, if he was dragged there on the premise of work but then told he wasn't needed but had to sit around whilst everyone else worked. Ridiculous comment.

Surely, if players and bench = 18 players, they would need to take 19 players in case of someone having a dodgy curry! Therefore, one doesn't get to play. On this occasion the 19th man didn't like it - tough.

This all amounts up to Lambert having lost the plot completely, that's if he ever had it ?
He is simply a p#ss poor Manager as his record here and elsewhere have proved beyond doubt - but he has been at some big Clubs !! - just in case anyone has forgotten since he reminded us for the millionth time ... !!
Biggest slope of the shoulder Guy EVER !!

Unless Lambert was just trying to piss Nolan off, any decent person would have said to him the day before, "You're not in the 18 but I'd appreciate it if you'd travel up in case anything happens." Easy. Does he have to ask? No. But it's good people management to show some respect for others.

Regardless of what happens to Lambert these are two bang average players and the sooner they are both gone the better.

Lambert, Jackson, and Nolan can all feck off as far as lm concerned. Those two want out anyway. Massive clear out required in the summer whatever happens, so get a new guy in now Evans so he can get a fix on the squad and who we need to bring in. I'd keep all the young players 9if possible,
plus Holy, Wilson, Edwards, Hawkins, Norwood. Bring in some experienced leaders especially CB and CM.

This is simply poor man-management. Players will make mistakes and errors of judgement but it's up to the manager to deal with these issues fairly and firmly. Unfortunately Lambo is not a good manager in any respect so we can expect more of this type of thing happening until he goes.

Jackson made an error on the pitch. He needed only to be seen publicly hold his hands up and apologise.

Nolan is a different case. The logic of travelling with a contingent larger than the 18 allowed on the team sheet seems strange to me, unless it is in case someone falls ill or gets injured in warm up. It doesn't seem to me to be good man management to tell those not involved only an hour before the game. On the other hand, if it is common practice to take more than required, Nolan must know that. Playing football is his job and ITFC is his employer and you have to be professional about these things

Both average players and not championship level as shown however Jackson isn't saying anything about not wanting a move or being upset which was the original concern. Either way this club just gets talked about for all the wrong reasons the management of this club is a joke I get friends coming up to me asking ‘what the hells going on at your club' ‘how are you mid table in league one' because we have the most inept owner and manager that's why and I don't trust the owner with the next appointment even if lambert goes. How can we go through 6 managers in evans 13 years at the club and all struggled working within the constraints. Other than the first two seasons where evans looked interested that's it!

Lambert is a grumpy, self-important and vindictive little man who has lost the dressing room and needs to be sacked ASAP.
