Season Ticket Sales Top 12,000 Wednesday, 7th Jul 2021 12:35 Town have revealed that more than 12,000 fans have already purchased season tickets ahead of the 2021/22 campaign with sales having been given a boost by the Government’s announcement earlier this week that restrictions on ground capacity will be lifted on July 19th.
Sales are up 33 per cent on last term and the Blues say they have sold more season tickets this summer than the final figures for five of the previous six years.
In 2019/20 Town finished the season with 12,298 season ticket holders and it is very possible that the Blues could surpass that total by the time the new campaign kicks off with Morecambe’s visit on Saturday 7th August.
The highest season ticket total in the last 10 years was in 2015/16 when the figure was just over 14,000 with the Blues having been in the play-offs during the previous campaign.
Season tickets remain available at the early bird price until 5pm on Friday 6th August.
Season ticket revenue is very important for the club for the campaign ahead with League One's Financial Fair Play rules, the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SMCP), limiting clubs' wage bills to 60 per cent of their turnover, down from 75 per cent from the Blues' first season in the division with the now scrapped salary cap having taken its place last season.
The Blues had a little under 9,000 season ticket holders for the 2020/21 campaign which was ultimately played behind closed doors aside from a couple of home games with 2,000 fans present.

Good news keeps on rolling in. I don't think Portman road is going to be such a nice place for visiting teams as it has been in recent times. COYB

Good news but we must remember a lot of fans will have suffered financial hardship over the period of the pandemic so match by match tickets are more feasible. Its a healthy number and if we get the signings we are praying for over the next 2-3 weeks I can see sales getting ever higher. With such aa high number of new players some people might be delaying until the season kicks off to see how we do. Wouldn't it be great if the club pushed early bird to August 31st to catch as many as we can from the early season momentum.....

Very disappointed we've missed out on Wyke!! Think we need more signings through the door before the end of the next two weeks.

Agreed Miltonsnephew, I'm really disappointed that Wigan can attract players like Wyler and we obviously can't. Wigan are going to be a real threat this season and not an also-ran as they were last season.
Blue_75 added 13:20 - Jul 7
I don't see it as is not being able to attract Wyke as we've already proved that we can attract and compete. I bet it's just an issue of geography!

it sounds like Wyke was considered and dismissed and things not taken any further than that, possibly due to his age and therefore limited value selling on. Cook is looking at young , hungry and energetic players who will have a good resale value. I would say Colby Bishop at Accrington would fit the bill but if he(Cook) is only playing one up front and with Bonne on board the move for Gregory as cover for Norwood makes perfect sense to me and means Norwood can be rested when appropriate.

Need to get some more deals over the line for me, we are very thread bare in several areas. Whilst I appreciate the club are working at numerous deals, they need time to gel ahead of the new season and Wyke is a massive coup for Wigan who are going to be super competitive at this level.

A calendar month today from the start of the season, plenty of time! My guess is we will have either 4 or 5 more additions by then.

It went very quiet after we signed the first two, then 4 came in within a matter of days. Bluearmy spot on !!

4 or 5 sounds about right and of course we still need to lose at least 4 . I am wondering whether Holy and Donacien will be retained simply as cover, the latter able to play a number of positions.

That's terrific and would be fantastic to top the 14000

Whilst I am sure Ashton and Cook will be working very hard , this news demonstrates the need to close deals soonas weill have some cash available. We currently have 14 players available if you assume the younsters El Mizouni and Ndaba are likely to be loaned out. That also assumes Holy and Donacien stay as cover which may not be the case once3 Cook has fully assessed them. I would say it is important now to secure fees for Bishop, Downes and Jackson if possible as there was interest in the two previous windows. As for Kenlock I can only see a loan as he has never established himself and I am struggling to work out who will take him, let alone pay a fee. We need at least 19 players I would say plus a few up and coming youngsters who can get used to the first team set up like Baggott.

Why are some people going on about wykes? Yes a talented lad but come on if he's choosing little Wigan over a bigger club in Ipswich it's normally geography is the reason as there's no way they'd beat us on club size, fan base or wages. Come on people think before moaning

Good news and we need to move on both Bishop and Kenlock ASAP removing the last remnants of the Evans era. Would like Downes to stay and fight for his place but expect he will go to Peterborough eventually. Jackson for me to be used as a makeweight in a striker deal. It is disappointing as he does have pace but he is not a winger and looks like Cook has given up on him.
