Town have announced that fans can attend the opening U23s fixture against Coventry City at Portman Road on Monday afternoon (KO 1pm).

Supporters were unable to watch U18s and U23s games last season but the Cobbold Stand will be open as the side coached by Kieron Dyer and Bryan Klug face the Sky Blues.

Last season, the U23s finished second in Professional Development League Two South.

Turnstiles will open at 12.30pm with season ticket holders admitted free, along with Junior Blues and Silver card members, with prices otherwise £3 for adults and £1 for concessions (seniors 65-plus, U23s and U19s). There are no advanced tickets with entry by cash on the gate.

As with first-team games, anyone aged 11 or older will be required either to provide proof of a NHS negative lateral flow test no longer than 48 hours prior to the event or proof of full vaccination with the second dose administered at least 14 days before the relevant match). Lateral flow test sticks will not be accepted as proof.

The Club will accept vaccine cards or a photo of the card as proof of double vaccination and fans may be asked to provide photographic ID such as passport or driving license. A bank card will be accepted as proof of ID if no photo ID is available.

Children under the age of 13 years will not need ID but their accompanying parent or guardian will have to validate their details.

The club is not streaming the match online.

budgieplucker added 22:44 - Aug 12 I don't want to appear to become a moan on here and not ungrateful for the transformation of our club under the gamechanger crew, however, bitterly disappointed that there is only one match in this U23's fixtures being played at Portman Road and that has a 1pm kick off on a weekday workday. As a season ticket holder for a significant number of years I have always looked forward to getting along to Portman Road for the handful of evening U23 fixtures played under the floodlights. Looks like I won't be able to see any this season - I appreciate it is school holidays and the club may want to attract the kids along during the day, but as I say this rather upsets me a bit!!!

beachcomber added 11:37 - Aug 13 budgieplucker - I am sure there will be more games at Portman Road throughout the season. The rules state: Each club must host at least five league matches at their main stadium during the course of the season, which helps to enhance the matchday experience for the young players and fans. Fingers crossed - some of them will be in the evening.

budgieplucker added 15:35 - Aug 13 @beachcomber, that was very much what I thought was supposed to be the position but looking at the fixtures on the ITFC website for the whole season all the home fixtures appear to be show the venue as playford road and 1pm kick offs. I certainly hope you may be right, having followed the club for nearly 60 years it might be a bit of dementia creeping in but I thought (and may be wrong) than in previous seasons I have looked at the fixture list early and transferred the dates into my diary which was what I was trying to do yesterday. Maybe and hopefully I have it wrong and the venues and times will be revised as we go.
