Town Recall Simpson From Swindon Loan
Sunday, 23rd Jan 2022 15:01

Town have recalled striker Tyreece Simpson from his season-long loan at League Two Swindon.

The 19-year-old enjoyed a hugely impressive spell at the County Ground, scoring 11 goals in 28 starts and two sub appearances.

The last of those goals came in yesterday's 1-1 home draw with Bristol Rovers.

Swindon director of football, Ben Chorley told his club’s official website: “I think it shows the success the club has made with our loans. Tyreece made massive strides here.

“His development and his games and goals for a 19-year-old inexperienced lad was fantastic.

“He's another young player that goes back to his club 100 per cent better tactically and technically. We wish him all the best in his career.”

Simpson has made four sub appearances in the league for the Blues as well as two starts and one sub appearance in the EFL Trophy

Everyone saying it is a strange decision!! NO bonne scored 1 goal in 13 games that is a poor return! We struggled to take our chances at bolton! Indeed against accrington another blank from our strikers!
Simpson at 19 is the future! Bring him in and best of luck!!

Hope I'm wrong, but could be being recalled to be used as part exchange for another of our targets? Perhaps even as part exchange for Bonne? Am rather hoping that McK sees him as ready to challenge for a starting place for us. I guess we'll know soon enough.

I think the boss just wants to see him in training alongside the squad members. He has more pace than the others, so if he can stretch the game vertically then it would mean more space for Celina and Chaplin to operate.

From the video it seems he is a penalty box poacher as well as a threat to a high line.

I would be interested to see where this goes. If it doesn't work out then loan him back out

Agree with Churchmans. A young hungry player who can score goals being coached by a young hungry manager. Sounds good to me!

Makes total sense: recall him, take a look in training, then potentially loan out to another team, even back to Swindle.

Cant help feeling this is part if a bigger picture than just having a look at him in training. Suspect Jackson will be off, and either there is an offer for Tyreece we havent seen yet, or either Pigott or Norwood are heading out too? Either way, Ashton and McKenna will have a plan

I suspect this is more to do with off field considerations than on. Complex situation with many reasons.

Just seen the video of his goals.

Think they've recalled him because they don't like him playing in yellow and green!

Hey guys and lasses this is a clever astute move----have you seen him banging in the goals on Saturday nights?

He looks strong and powerful and this is the loan system working perfectly----can you imagine a front two of him and Nozza-----opposition centre halves would no longer be able to sit back and relax when playing us.

If he were loaned to another L1 side, he would be helping just one of our competitors (and not when they play us), but potentially taking points off several of the rest. Depriving all the teams above us of three points could be very useful!

The element of Swindon not paying wages could have some weight to it....I would hope that TS will get loaned out again...perhaps to a L1 side that benefits us....with regard to Piggot the lad has been through the wringer over the last few months....his application and effort cannot be doubted in the few outings he has had....he will come good. With regard to Jackson, I agree with Cat, the lad obviously is rated, obviously cares....in the Pizza cup game against Arsenal his first half was excellent and he put himself about with two very well taken goals...but I accept he is moving on, best for him and the club...as other commentators have said, I trust in KM to make the right decisions, as his conduct so far has been top notch....

Been thinking for a while now we could do with some extra pace up front. Bonne and Norwood are both half decent but are very similar. Bonne has definitely lost a bit of pace since the start of the season. Jackson has pace but probably wants to move on. Simpson's physicality and pace would be a good option on the bench. Don't know if Norwood has ever settled at Ipswich but McKenna might be thinking he can get someone in who is better.

I don't have a problem with Jackson and Nolan going but I do think Pigott has had a bit of a raw deal at town? There's not an awful lot you can contribute to the team when you are brought on in the late 80th minute other than a running down the clock exercise?? He needs more game time and with Bonne not scoring I do think he's worth a run in the team??

Both Cook and McKenna and too a lesser extent Mcgreal dont consider Pigott worthy of a place in the team. Players don't just get given a run in the team they have to earn it and Pigott for me has never looked particularly interested or shown the aggression required to warrant a place in the team. Might be best if he moved on where he's happier perhaps.

Shame to see Tyreece wearing green and yellow on those clips. Looks like a young Lukaku.
