John-Jules: We'll Miss Morsy But There Are Players Ready to Step In Monday, 24th Oct 2022 15:30 Tyreece John-Jules admits Town will miss suspended skipper Sam Morsy at Port Vale tomorrow night but believes the Blues have the resources to cope and increase the pressure on leaders Plymouth Argyle. Midfield enforcer Morsy, until now ever-present, will be absent against the newly-promoted Valiants after accumulating five yellow cards in the league during the current campaign, which means an automatic one-game ban that will mean sitting out the visit to the club where it all started for him 13 years ago. It was after Wolverhampton-born Morsy was released by his hometown club that he joined Vale in 2009, making his debut early the following year and going on to make 78 appearances, and scoring four goals, in all competitions. It would have been Morsy’s 50th league outing for Town had he not been suspended, so he will have to wait until next Saturday’s trip to Charlton Athletic to complete his half century. John-Jules said: “We’re definitely going to miss Sam because he’s our captain and he’s a good leader. He speaks to all of us, especially me, and I’m happy that he is our skipper because he has treated me very well. “But I’m sure there are going to be players ready to step in and do a very good job. We all know our jobs, there’s a connection all the way through the team and I’m sure we will be fine.” The Arsenal loanee believes Town are equipped to win all sorts of games as they chase a return to English football’s second tier, adding: “You have to adapt along the way to playing different types of teams because they all have their different ways. You rarely get the same type of game two weeks in a row. That’s football generally, not just League One. “You’ve got to rise to the occasion and whatever is in front of you, you have to find a way to win games. As players, we have to have that in us, to be capable of beating all sorts of opposition. “This is a tough league and every game isn’t going to be pretty. You have to learn to adapt from one game to the next.” John-Jules teamed up with Kayden Jackson in attack as Town defeated Derby County 1-0 in Friday night’s clash in front of a near-capacity Portman Riad crowd and continued: “Kayden does a lot of hard work for the team. and it’s a joy to play with him. He’s a very energetic player and I like to play alongside him because we complement each other so well, with me dropping deep and him running in behind. “We’ve started to build a good relationship recently but to be fair I’m close with pretty much all the players. I’ve been treated so well by the other players that we bonded almost straight away. “There are no favourites as such; we all get on very well. But the manager has played a big part in that because we are all his signings. We’re all close, we’re all together. We’re a team, that’s the best way to explain it. “We do a lot of things together because we’re teammates, things like having breakfast or lunch together. We had a team bonding day recently that was good and went very well. “We’re a team so it makes sense that we do a lot of things together. It’s all the players, not just a few. “The training and coaching are at a very good level, a high level. I’m improving as a player day by day and both the training and the coaching are very intense, which is playing a big part in my development. “The Arsenal people who are looking out for me know that I have come to a good club, a club where I am being treated well and one where I am enjoying my football. “It would mean a lot to everyone at the club if we could go on and win promotion this season. “That is the goal, of the club, of the team. We’re all trying to push and make it happen, and as long as we’re doing that I’ll be happy. “Like I’ve said, I feel part of what’s going on at the club and it’s infectious. I know I’m still an Arsenal player but as long as I’m here I will be focusing on doing well for Ipswich and trying to make things happen for this club. “This move has helped me a lot. The more games you play, the better you should become. You are playing against different teams, different players, different styles of play, so you are going to improve. “Most importantly, you are learning all the time, and it’s not just the games that do it. The training and coaching are a big part of it too, because if you don’t put the effort in you are not going to be as good as you want to be. “I get asked a lot about my favourite position and my answer is always the same. My attitude is that my best position is where I will do best for the team. Wherever the gaffer puts me, I’m going to give 100 per cent, play to the best of my ability and try to do my best for the team.”
