McKenna Misses Out on Award
Friday, 11th Nov 2022 06:00

Town boss Kieran McKenna has missed out on winning the Sky Bet League One Manager of the Month award for October with Plymouth boss Steven Schumacher carrying off the gong for the second month running.

McKenna is still to win a Manager of the Month award despite having been nominated in April and August.

The Blues won five and drew one in League One during October, picking up 16 points out of 21.

Peterborough's Grant McCann and Darren Moore of Sheffield Wednesday were the other nominees.

Bristol Rovers striker Aaron Collins was named Player of the Month.

Would have been more surprising if he'd won. Still going well but he'll have better months. Congrats to Schumacher, I'm of the mind that Plymouth will run out of steam, unlike us.

The Plymouth manager deserved the award, but I also suspect their luck will soon run out. I see injuries are now beginning to mount up.
Ironically they are at Lincoln Saturday & they are the reason the award didnt come to PR

I think we are still a little under the radar generally which is not at all a bad thing. Better to be a team others want to beat than THE team others want to beat.

If we'd not conceded the late goals at Charlton, I suspect McKenna would've won it. The Lincoln result was a freak one based on that stats.

KMc is a good manager who I expect will get us promoted this season, but it was a somewhat mixed month in terms of results.

I am told that Plymouth have a small squad; will they come down with the Christmas decorations?

My how smug we are, sitting in our ivory tower and merrily predicting Plymouth's downfall, and how we'll pounce when that happens. Sad.

Like it, Ipswich Business :-D

Having a bad day DaGremloid? Fans aren't allowed to provide predictions anymore?

Nick Pope goes to the World Cup...released by Town in 2008 when we were recruiting continually on loan keepers galore..instead of giving our home grown a chance.Says much for our promoting and pushing our own talent.....if you look at the 2005 Youth Cup winning team, not one left a mark on Town subsequent history...

oldegold - whilst I understand that frustration, you'll find the proportion of released players who haven't gone on to a successful career is massive and far more alarming. Anyone who's been released and managed to turn that into a positive to kick their career on should be commended. There will always be the ones that got away but its a sliver next to the ones who didn't make the grade/get a fair chance.

Jugsy - Absolutely people are free to make predictions. The same way as I'm free to criticize them for being conceited and arrogant.

DaGremloid - my point being that fans making predictions of outcomes, based on information available and previous experience is part and parcel of the game. These comments about Plymouth are by no means ‘sad', ‘arrogant' nor ‘conceited'. One comment made was certainly said in jest, that's all.

Lighten up, enjoy yourself a bit. Try and not find sinister meaning behind passing comments that fans of the club you support believe that our team is better disposed for the long run than the competitor in front of us. And if we're wrong at the end of the season, I guess you can enjoy being right.
