MacAnthony Dismisses Clarke-Harris to Town Claims Monday, 19th Dec 2022 11:57 Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has dismissed rumours linking Posh striker Jonson Clarke-Harris with a January move to the Blues.
Clarke-Harris, League One’s current top scorer with 12 goals, has been mentioned in connection with Town in recent weeks with claims financial issues might force Peterborough to sell the 28-year-old.
However, asked directly whether there was any truth in the Clarke-Harris to Town claims on Twitter, MacAnthony said that wasn’t the case, having also said he is content with his club’s financial position.
A central striker would appear to be top of Town’s January wish-list having looked to sign Leicester’s George Hirst, who subsequently signed a new deal and joined Blackburn on loan, and former loan striker Will Keane, now with Wigan, in the summer.
As previously reported, the Blues have been keeping tabs on Brighton's 18-year-old Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson with a view to a loan.
The Blues’ options are currently more limited with Tyreece John-Jules having suffered a hamstring injury which rules him out until February or March.

Even if it was true, he's hardly going to come out and say they're skint and their best player is off to a divisional rival is he?

This would be decent move, cash plus Jackson maybe and Whittaker in to replace John Jules. Pigs might fly I guess
ArnieM added 13:06 - Dec 19
We can all hope I suppose. But this is exactly the type of player we need in through the door if we are to maintain our promotion push ….
Gforce added 13:34 - Dec 19
Would be excellent if we could get him.I believe we need 2 new strikers in the door.If we only sign 1 and the 1 gets injured,we are back to square one with bl##dy Jackson again.

Posh do too much talking and maybe they are due some back. Let's publicly say we want the lad but won't make an offer until they behave, but if we did, we would double his wages. Captain or not, he won't stick around much longer knowing that, so why not us. Caveat that with ONLY if our Boss has a plan to use him week-in-and-week-out.....and I am not sure he would use him and maybe would not want him. Anyway, suspect our scouting ability is a bit better than only being able to look down the road these days too.

It's ok we don't need a striker we've got forest gump…

Playing for a small club like Peterborough and then playing for a big club like Ipswich has so far proven very difficult for players coming to Portman road. Pigott looked out of his depth,Labado has been ok and Ahadme has done very little to inspire confidence although he needs more time. I think the owners have to think of the future and spend big on a striker this time. It might mean looking abroad where you get more value for your money and they don't demand such high wages.

If Jackson starts any more games then kiss goodbye to any hopes of top 2.
Nomore4 added 18:56 - Dec 19
As for Ahadme, he's scored 6 goals over 5 professional seasons……like Jackson 20 goals over 5 seasons, these figures are abysmal. We are not in the position to give anyone more time.

Why does so much shxte come from the mouths of Posh's directors & management over the years.
Karlosfandangal added 20:58 - Dec 19
I think Posh know they will struggle to keep him in the transfer window so trying to push up his value. He will not come to Town as Posh will be looking in the £5 million mark and as for Hurst we might have just dodged a bullet on that one his stats are not that good and struggling to get a game at Blackburn.

From the few times I've watched him he looks pretty slow and no goal threat ....he has a few extra goals to 3 of our strikers ....we need better than him ...and will get for less.Hes no Ivan T

IMO not a player that will interest KMcK. Not a great fit and apart from a cracking free kick, failed to impress at PR.

I think since Brexit it's not so easy to buy abroad these days. Not sure what the exact rules are but it's more likely we will go for someone in the UK

Clarke -Harris too big too slow too old .should have been .Rhys Healey from Toulouse ..last season 20 goals 32 appearances..this 1 goal in 3 .....28 years old.. ex Cardiff and MK ...but...done his ACL .out for season.

Bit early to begin writing off Ahadme! - he only really began his career last season. He was with Norwich Under 23s until 2021. The one club he has played permanently for at a senior level is Burton, for whom we played 22 games and scored 8 goals. Not a terrible return, and I certainly can understand why the professional coaches in our club see potential there. Agree not the answer to getting us out of the league ASAP, but personally I find it encouraging that we're on course for promotion but also building for the future.
