Town Target Broadhead Recalled By Everton
Friday, 6th Jan 2023 16:49

Town target Nathan Broadhead has been recalled from his loan spell at Wigan Athletic by parent club Everton.

While no deal with the Blues has yet been agreed, we understand Town are continuing their pursuit of the 24-year-old forward, who had been due to remain with the Latics until the end of the season having scored five goals in 11 starts and 11 sub appearances.

The Blues are understood to have tabled an offer of £1 million for the Wales U21 international, although with other clubs also believed to be keen and his former loan club Sunderland linked although with no confirmation that the Black Cats are interested in a reunion.

Broadhead was a youth player with hometown side Bangor City and Wrexham before joining Everton’s academy as a 10-year-old.

The 5ft 10in tall frontman has made two senior sub appearances for the Toffeemen but has spent most of the last few seasons out on loan.

In 2019/20 he was with Burton, scoring three times in 15 starts and seven sub appearances, then spent 2021/22 on Wearside, netting 13 goals in 20 starts and seven games from the bench.

The Blues also remain interested in Swansea forward Morgan Whittaker, who was recalled from his loan at Plymouth earlier in the week.

No deal is currently under discussion but landing Broadhead, who can play all across the front line, would not end Town’s pursuit of Whittaker.

Town are also still in discussions regarding Leicester striker George Hirst joining on loan with the 23-year-old’s spell at Blackburn expected to be cut short in the next few days.

As long as it's not the A140 that's fine!

In many ways the anticipation and intrigue of transfer windows is almost as exciting as sealing the deals! Personally, I've learned to enjoy the speculation, but not to believe owt until seeing the mandatory picture of the lad grinning into the camera, wearing/holding the sacred shirt, and saying how he always wanted to be here since he got wind a deal was possible! COYB!

A14, A12, A140......when did a new signing last fly in? We haven't signed from abroad for years, or am I forgetting someone?

You've got to applaud the owners for digging deep to support KM. Obviously there is some quality firepower turning up at Portman Road in Jan even if these exact targets don't come off

I would say Muhren and Thijssen when Sir Bobby got the player to stand in the centre circle to wave at the plane flying over Portman Road.

How times change

All the years (52+) ive followed the blues and never ever have we had money to spend when pretty much nobody else has..... And its rather fun!

This is a lad has has clearly been scouted as part of a long term plan. Im not a great fan of loans, so I hope this is a permanent one as indicated, and as much as I hope we get Hirst as well, i really do hope there's an option to buy clause in there.

Oh and I still want Whittaker please if I may....

I think the last Saxon was Kevin Bru. Or possibly the Polish fella who's name escapes me.

So is 5 goals in 22 appearances really worthy of a £1 mil plus price tag though , i know it's exciting that our club now has the correct backing but still alot of money for a goal every 5 games

I would say yes reescurtis. They are Championship goals. All whilst playing for the bottom team.

This is not a criticism as I think we've recruited very well recently, but do we still have scouts at the club? I was being a little tongue in cheek with my earlier comment but on reflection, we really don't seem to be looking very far afield do we?
