Blue Action to Stage Coach Greeting
Wednesday, 26th Apr 2023 17:48

Town independent supporters group Blue Action are calling on fellow fans to join them in welcoming the team coach as it arrives at Portman Road ahead of Saturday’s potentially promotion-winning game against Exeter City.

Following last night’s brilliant 3-0 win at Barnsley, the Blues need only two points to claim promotion back to the Championship after four seasons.

If anyone has a last minute spare ticket they could sell me I would be really happy. A very long-shot I know but I'm ever the optimist...

This seems premature. I hope we don't throw it away and look a bit silly. Fingers crossed

I think this is a great initiative: show our appreciation for what the team, but most of all K McK, has done.

Great idea - it's not about if we win, it's about showing the manager and the team the appreciation, love and respect they deserve for taking us on one hell of a memorable ride!

I'll be there and I hope a few thousand others want to show what it's means to us all!

Exactly Burleys and Kropotkin, this is appreciation for the brilliant entertainment and class play (especially of late!!), not a celebration.
Please God we can celebrate at 4.50, that would be epic indeed.
COME ON YOU MAGNIFICENT BLUES.

An excellent idea and will give the boys an extra lift and keep them focussed on the job ahead. We've had an amazing journey this season and at 5pm we'll all be celebrating the major prize.

Can we request they come past the Greyhound? Asking for a friend…

Actually think it could be counterproductive. For the 1st time in a while there will actually be pressure on the team to win the game, bcse simply the reward for doing so is immense. Having fans doing this could increase the pressure they will undoubtedly be feeling with the thought they cannot let the fans down. Get the intention behind it but think it's best left until after the match. Line the road as the coach leaves the ground on its way back to the training ground.

Although this is well intended I don't think it's a good idea. Any deviation from the normal pre-match routine is a potential distraction for the players. Also, the Exeter players could see it as a celebration of promotion before the game which is extra motivation for them to spoil the party. The fans can encourage the team during the game as usual and show their gratitude afterwards. If we win the celebrations can start then too.

Nomore4, A really generous fellow TWTD poster has already fixed me up. I'm so happy.

Whatever the intentions, this will look very much like a premature celebration and could incentivise Exeter and/or distract our own players from their usual pre-match routines.

Glad to hear it, warwickblue. I'm still trying to get my hands on a ticket having originally been unable to attend the match. At least I made it to Barnsley!
