Broadhead: Great to Get Out There For the First Session Monday, 10th Jul 2023 17:16 Forward Nathan Broadhead was pleased to get Town’s pre-season training camp in Austria under way this morning but knows it’s going to be a week of hard work.
The squad flew out to Austria yesterday and were out on the training field this morning in 35° heat at a club called SC LAA in Laa an der Thaya north of Vienna.
“It was great to get out there for the first session, stretch the legs and get a touch of the ball again,” Broadhead, who made his first appearance of the pre-season fixture programme in Friday's 2-1 victory over Maidenhead at Needham Market, told the club site.
“It was hot out there, so the pitches were a bit dry, but the facilities are great and we’re really enjoying being here.
“There are good vibes, everyone’s feeling chilled and this gives us all team bonding, which is really important.
“We’ll be running a lot and we know there is hard graft to come, but we’re all in. We have a lot of games this month so the lads will get a lot of minutes, which will be really important for us.”
The Blues face Spartak Trnava behind closed doors in the first of two friendlies on Saturday before taking on Flyeralarm Admira in the afternoon at their motion_invest Arena (KO 3pm CEST).

Very little news on transfers. I am beginning to get worried but other clubs also don't seem to have brought many in yet.

Eeyore, I don't know. I'm happy with the business that we have done so far and there is still plenty of time. I think the market will get going soon and we won't be caught paying silly money for unproven players.

Transfer business is very slow at the moment, but last season we were the big boys in league one and found it much easier to compete in purchasing players. This season we have a lot of competition in the championship who are prepared to spend big money. Even Gamechanger have a limit to what they are prepared to spend and big money signings also need big wages and that is half the problem. Strikers who can score goals at championship level are not going to be cheap .

Eeyore I agree……not sure if Town were in for the lad from Everton or just noise as Town sign players we are not really linked to like Slicker. Having said that the way Town tore up League 1 in the last 15 games and the two performances against Burnley……I feel Town will be ok in the Championship. I would prefer Town sign Quality and better than we have to push Town to the next level than just sign players to bulk the team out

The transfer business stuff is more of a worry to me about people doubting what we are doing. Seriously with 4 weeks to go to game one and almost 2 months to go until the window closing the panic mongers are out in force. Relax, Mark Ashton is a very astute guy, we aren't shopping at Rotherham any more guys we are dealing with PL teams. He got Clarke, He got Broadhead, he will sort it
