Leeds and Leicester Games on Sky
Thursday, 9th Nov 2023 13:08

Town’s Championship games away against Leeds United and at home to Leicester City over the Christmas period have changed kick-off times due to live Sky coverage.

The Saturday 23rd December match against the Whites, who are currently third, eight points behind the Blues, at Elland Road will now kick-off at the earlier time of 12.30pm so the game is shown live by the satellite broadcaster.

The Boxing Day fixture with the Foxes, who lead Town by three points at the top of the table, at Portman Road will now start at 7.45pm rather than 3pm as had been scheduled.

Town are on Sky Sports on a number of occasions between now and the New Year.

West Brom (A) – Saturday 25th November – 5.30pm (Sky Sports)
Millwall (H) – Wednesday 29th November – 8pm (Sky Sports)
Watford (A) – Tuesday 12th December – 7.45pm (TownTV & Sky Sports Arena)
Norwich City (H) – Saturday 16th December – 12.30pm (Sky Sports)
Leeds United (A) - Saturday 23th December - 12.30pm (Sky Sports)
Leicester City (H) - Tuesday 26th December - 7.45pm (Sky Sports)

Anyone need recommendations for a good VPN provider?

Leeds will be a tough one to take. Not the game, we will win it easily. I mean the illiterate ramblings from the halfbred Northern morons prior to it.

Just as well that we have put our Sky TV hoodoo behind us!

That SKY Sports subscription is at last worth having.

So we will be on Sky 6 times in 5 weeks. Seems like we've only been on 6 times in the previous 5 years. I suppose we are going to have to get used to these changes as Sky call the shots :(

Has someone at sky finally read their inbox messages?

The price we pay for success!. As someone who started attending matches back in the 1950’s, for me 3pm Saturday is football time. I know that like everything else in life we have to adapt to changing trends but 7.45pm on Boxing Day? WTF is that about? Boxing Day 3pm is a tradition which should not be messed with and while bad enough for our many supporters spread across Suffolk and beyond, it is also a kick in the nuts for Leicester fans

That's a pretty tough set of matches. We couldn't even beat Rotherham on TV. Hope we don't revert to type.

It's okay sky are just getting us ready for next year when a game at 3 on a Saturday will be as rare as hens teeth once we are in the prem.

As if those back-to-back fixtures weren't tough enough, the squad now have to deal with an early kick-off away to Leeds a couple of days before Christmas, and the Leicester squad get a few extra hours to recover from their Christmas lunches for what should be one of their toughest away games. Ah well, at least it gives the players about 10 hours extra recovery time between matches...

Well. May as well stay at home Boxing Day and watch it on the telly with a Brandy and a mince pie in my hand.
Blinking idiots.

Orraman: I wish I could mark you up x10. Totally agree. 19:45 on Boxing Day is just ridiculous for fans wanting to actually be at the match. Public transport isn't exactly efficient on that day - quite probably non-existent - and I don't suppose I'm the only one who doesn't have a car!

Jeff: I have a £10 a month NOW TV entertainment pack and then am paying £19.99 extra a month for all Sky Sports channels on it. I use an Amazon firestick on my TV to access the NOW app (or my phone) so I'm sure you can get a NOW app on your Smart TV.

There could well be cheaper / easier ways!

And, frustratingly, streaming Sky TV puts it on a 60 second delay so my phone will beep before I actually see a goal...

just a good note for anyone, if you get a day pass for sky sports through NOWTV, they throw in a sub to the mobile coverage for 9 months. (free) so if you are happy to watch the games on your mobile (or I presume tablet) it's a good option.

I'm sorry for all the fans trying to get home after the match on Boxing Day. Actually it's not so bad for us, I feel more for the Leicester fans especially if we beat them. I don't know if that timing makes it easier for me. I'm in Germany where they don't have the Boxing Day tradition so it might be difficult to get away during the day, but there might be some evening festivities too, so I don't know.

A Boxing Day game at 7.45pm further underlines my contempt for Sky and it’s owners. How to muck up Christmas must be their programming policy. The EFL could and should have a veto on Boxing Day ko times.

Leeds away and Leicester at home all within a week we be absolutely pivotal in wether we go up automatic or not purely because of the games prior to them two

Would have been easier to say when Ipswich is not on Sky during Nov/Dec!

It's not Sky TV's fault that they have to change game times to screen them....it is the Football Authorities not allowing 3pm games to be screened. In this day and age that is the biggest farce in the game!!!

Which means you can buy a sky sports pass for one month and see 5 town games for 34 quid.
Not a bad deal.

Typical national media ignore Town ( as they often did with Sir Bobby's teams t). Didnt expect us to do as well as we have. From 2 games in the first 3 months we now find the opposite.
Let's hope we can continue to storm the league
