New Strike Pair on Bench at Preston
Saturday, 3rd Feb 2024 14:16

New striker Kieffer Moore and Ali Al-Hamadi are named on the bench as manager Kieran McKenna makes two changes from the Blues’ last league game for this afternoon’s match at Preston North End.

Skipper Sam Morsy returns in midfield following his suspension with Lewis Travis dropping to the subs, while Jeremy Sarmiento is handed his full league debut with Marcus Harness also on the bench, alongside Moore, Al-Hamadi and Nathan Broadhead.

Preston make one change from their 1-1 draw at Millwall last time out with skipper Alan Browne returning to the starting line-up for Ryan Ledson, who is among the subs.

Former Blues striker Will Keane starts and ex-Town keeper Dai Cornell is on the bench.

PNE: Woodman, Whiteman, Lindsay, Keane, Browne (c), Frokjaer, Storey, Hughes, Riis, Millar, Potts.  Subs: Cornell, Cunningham, Brady, McCann, Ledson, Woodburn, Holmes, Whatmough, Osmajic.

Town: Hladky, Clarke, Woolfenden, Edmundson, Davis, Morsy (c), Luongo, Burns, Chaplin, Sarmiento, Jackson. Subs: Walton, Tuanzebe, Travis, Humphreys, Harness, Hutchinson, Broadhead, Al-Hamadi, Moore. Referee: Graham Scott (Oxfordshire).

Nice to see our trusty midfield pair back together. Sarmiento deserves his inclusion.

We get two desperately needed strikers in and low and behold he starts with Jackson! I find that rather strange to say the least

WHAT becomes our lot ? Passionate though you may be, do you really think KM hasn’t got a clue ?
Read his lips, hear what the other players say, DO try to understand the strategy and tactics AND above all believe !
Go for it Blues !

Brave decision by Kmck to start with Jackson despite Moore and Al Hamadi. Failure to win today and a number fans will be questioning the decision

Tactics seem pretty obvious to me, get Jackson running behind them to tire them out, and then bring on one of Moore or Al Hamadi after 60 minutes to wreak havoc....

It's obvious enough, isn't it? The new guys have got to learn their roles which is best done in this match starting on the bench. Moore has not even had one practice session on grass. I think people do not realise the intricacies of how a McKenna team operates. If you could learn it without practice, the opposition could too, and stop you easily.

I think starting with Jackson who knows the play is probably a good move, let the lads watch the game, learn the positions that are weak and then send on Moore to take advantage of them. People need to remember both haven't been involved as of yet, need to get them starting on the right foot to make an impact. COYB

Strong side other than Jackson up front...need a win to forget the FA Cup debacle.

I felt scammed by this unfair annual subscription!

This game is not on Skybet live and yet International subscribers can’t watch the game again? This is utterly unfair!

If at the beginning of the season I know that I can only watch half the amount of games, and also at the last minute, I could have taken different decisions.

This is unjust. The people behind the marketing team should refund a portion of the subscription fee to International subscribers like me!

Gforce do not panic. We have the mighty prolific goalscorer Jackson up front.

We are doomed!
