European Clubs 'Monitoring' Hutchinson
Tuesday, 27th Feb 2024 09:53

Forward Omari Hutchinson’s performances for Town during his loan spell from Chelsea have reportedly led to a number of European clubs keeping tabs on the 20-year-old.

Hutchinson has had an impressive season since joining the Blues in July, scoring six - including two in his last two, both in injury time - and assisting six in 14 starts and 24 appearances from the bench.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, that form, which has built as the campaign has progressed and saw him win Town’s February Player of the Month award, has led to sides on the continent taking notice of the Jamaica international.

Hutchinson, who spoke to media including TWTD following Saturday’s 3-1 home victory over Birmimgham City, is contracted to Chelsea until the summer of 2025 having joined them from Arsenal in the summer of 2022.

We must enjoy this fantastic talant in these last dozen (or more?) games. He is one special player and potentially our best loan signing ever.

Unfortunately, I just don't see him being with us again next year, irrespective of what division we find ourselves in. I wish it were otherwise, but I just can't see it.

BeattiesBackPocket added 10:00 - Feb 27
Of course they are this lad is a real talent and personally feel he has improved massively since his first couple of games working with McKenna and the coach’s. I also think McKenna has used him well regarding game time hence why he is getting better and fitter as the season goes on. I’d love to get him permanently but don’t think that will happen unless we go up as I think he’ll be playing in a top division somewhere next season here or abroad.

Omari will back himself am sure, but going back to Chelsea where players seem to go backwards would be a big mistake. However, no one should forget he is performing in The Championship, and many of his best moments have been off the bench, when teams/defenders are either unprepared for him and/or have tired legs. He also has a manager who is doing right by him, developing his ability and mental side too.

Put simply Omari could do worse than stay at Town next season regardless of what League we are in, but based on this season Chelsea will no doubt want him loaned to a higher level, if only to increase his sale value and visibility!

Tread carefully Omari. You love it here and we love having you and you are in Team that is pulling for each other and having fun doing it; don't underestimate how unusual that is!

PS: we get promoted and sign Omari is a much better solution for all! COYB

The bottom line is it will all depend on whether Chelsea believe he has a future with them and if they think he is good enough to break into their first team.
Personally I think he is already as good as some of their younger first team squad players, some of which are currently failing to impress in the top flight.
If we do manage to get over line and promoted,we should try everything in our power to sign him up permanently.

barrystedmunds added 10:45 - Feb 27
I’d agree with all that’s been said but it is interesting that’s he’s not a regular starter. That to me says a lot about where he is in his development.

algarvefan added 10:47 - Feb 27
The lad is doing well from the bench, but not so much when starting, he still has a way to go in his development but has improved immeasurably in his time here.
Chelsea will get back a much improved player than he was when he came here. Whatever happens he will always have our respect and good wishes, can't see him signing for us, sorry.

Europablue added 11:05 - Feb 27
He won't sign on loan again to the Championship. He will be sold in the summer to a team in a top league. Failing that he will be loaned out to a team in a top team.

Help added 11:39 - Feb 27
Nah he's rubbish. Only scores in extra time. This is not the omari you are looking for. Do jedi mind tricks work at this level?

d77sgw added 11:52 - Feb 27
Good for us that this is working out, regardless of where OH ends up - Chelsea (and similar) will see the value we add and be more encouraged to lend us other talent

Ipswichbusiness added 12:01 - Feb 27
It is said (denied by them) that Chelsea need to raise £100 million by the end of June to comply with their financial fair play requirements. Selling home grown players is important as the fee is treated as pure profit.

Bazza8564 added 12:15 - Feb 27
Hes still young, developing and has a role to play here which ever division we are in next season, but realistically I don't think Chelsea will want to hold onto him for another loan so if we want him next season, it's PL and a sizeable bid to keep him. Suspect McKenna is a big draw though....

I would love to see him stay on, either on loan again or permanently as he seems to be improving with every week. Whether he stays beyond the end of this season or not his story is a positive one for the club. There’s lots of quality young players at big clubs and where they loan them out is a big decision which they don’t take lightly. It strengthens our case when we can evidence Omari’s development as the reason clubs and players should have ITFC near the top of their list of potential loan clubs.

Suffolkboy added 12:33 - Feb 27
KM and the coaches of ITFC do an almost incredible job educating , inspiring ,developing and tutoring players at every level . Throughout the squad individuals have grown , extended their understanding of the game — AND in some cases are aiming already for Coaching Badges .
OH has been identified for his potential ,and how great it is to witness the talents and growing skills .
To see him in an ITFC shirt for longer would be wonderful !Meantime one can’t see KM and Co allowing him to become too big for his boots !

Mr 10% doing his bit already I'm sure!

superblues9 added 13:30 - Feb 27
I heard the clubs been quoted £15 million for him surely we wouldn't be able to afford that even if they got promoted would they !?

Stato added 14:14 - Feb 27
Has looked far more dangerous when playing wide right in the Burns role than when he has replaced Chappers in the 10 slot.

BlueySwede added 14:47 - Feb 27
If we go up I think we could sign him, if he wants to be here. Players playing for us getting recognized can only be a good thing, even if they are not "ours". Omari has been brilliant, especially the last 3-4 matches.

UhlenbeekDownTheWing added 15:23 - Feb 27
I like Omari - he is starting to add some end product to his industry and flair. Scored some hugely important goals.

That said, people saying he is our best ever loan signing have very short memories!!!
Tom Lawrence was the star of the 2016/17 side we had, 9 goals and 9 assists in a very average team. That’s before you start thinking back to Reuser, Magilton, Peralta or Clapham…
You could make arguments for Colback, Fraser and Williams being better loan signings too…and Kieffer Moore and George Hirst may also take issue!!
We’ve done alright in the loan market over the years - albeit with some horrors too (Tony Dinning, Michael Clegg, Paolo Vernazza or Reece Wabara anyone??)

blueboy1981 added 15:51 - Feb 27
…. no Surprise - he has a huge Career ahead of him - Immense Talent !

BobbyBell added 17:05 - Feb 27
His success here has increased his value and aroused interest from clubs much richer than us. Having said that we are owned by investors and this lads value could increase substantially if he could prove himself in the premier league. Whether such a high risk investment on one player would be made if we got promotion remains to be seen but if we do get to the premier league we will need to invest serious money to stay there. I am sure that plans are being made already for the possibility of a premier league campaign which is what everyone at the club and connected with the clubs wants.

Its a catch 22 with loan players. Do well and their parent clubs snatch them back and use or sell them. Do crap and we don't get anything out of it.

This is exactly what we want from Baggot right? Go to Bristol, do amazing, get experience, come back and be amazing for us. Bristol get an amazing player for a spell, in the same way as we get Hutchinson for a spell....

The best solution is he helps us get promoted, Chelsea agree to sell him to us and we move forward with him as a valuable member of the team. Could happen once they add that Premiership money to the spreadsheet.

Sir_Monte_Carlo added 21:54 - Feb 27
He's doing fantasticly well. But....Never fall in love with a loan player.

BurleysGloryDays added 22:51 - Feb 27
Would love him staying at Town, he loves it here too I think. Still young and developing, and our man KMK a big pull no doubt. We’re once again a great club for young talent.

There were some fans on this board saying Omari wasn’t up to it even quite recently.

(Which just goes to show, even our great club has dafties in the fan base!)
