Leicester and Leeds Drop Points
Tuesday, 9th Apr 2024 22:02

Town will return to the top of the Championship if they beat Watford at Portman Road on Wednesday night, both Leicester and Leeds having dropped points on Tuesday evening.

The Foxes still head the table despite losing 1-0 at Millwall, while Leeds moved second ahead of Town on goal difference having been held to a 0-0 draw by Sunderland at Elland Road.

That means a Blues win will see them return to the top of the table by two points, while a draw will see Kieran McKenna’s men move to second behind Leicester, who would have a game in hand, on goal difference.

This is so exciting - we could have been streets ahead with a win on Saturday and miraculously, we’re back in the driving seat. We really have to bring it home and do so in style.

LET’S GOOOOOOOO!

Gforce The material difference is that 5 wins would guarantee us promotion, whereas now 4 wins and a draw will do it! Hopefully we knock out one of those wins tomorrow, and we'll see how generous Leeds are feeling because it's not easy to win every remaining match.

As I’ve been saying there’s plenty of twists and turns still to come! The amount of posts that come on here with knee jerk reactions to a defeat, it’s ludicrous! Check the bigger picture people, it’s not just us that lose the ‘occasional game’, Leeds and Leicester do too!

Are the Gods with us ? Who would have thought that Leicester would drop all those points and Leeds stutter. This is the time for grit, determination, intensity, passion and a resolute defence. We have injuries and illness but the will is there to get this over the line and avoid the lottery of the play offs.

Leicester & Leeds surprisingly dropping points is great, but the Southampton win over Coventry was an important result too (apart from it helping Norwich); it keeps them in with a chance (unlikely, but a chance) of automatic promotion which gives them something important to still be playing for when the face Leicester in that 'game in hand' in just under a fortnight, & still possibly when the go to Leeds in the final game of the season.
Southampton are 'only' 9 behind Leeds, but with 2 games in hand AND a head to head game with them to play, so it's not over. The way Leicester have been playing & dropping points, means they can't rule out catching them either, IF they go there & win.
All we can do is concentrate on our own games & pick up as many points as we can; one draw or defeat does not mean we've blown it, as each round of games seems to throw up at least 1 surprise, however, we could really do with taking 6 points from our 2 home games, tonight & on Saturday.

Fingers crossed we get the hoped for result and performance that generally follows a poor town performance!

3 points would be awesome but its not a foregone conclusion, as we get to the bussiness end of the season these games are must wins if we want to avoid the play-off lottery.

I’ll second that Bobble….it appears on TWTD it’s just you and me who had ITFC to finish top 2 from the season start….

This without question….the biggest 6 points we’ve been involved in ever!
4 points would more than do…..However I can see us winning all 5 remaining games

Wins are now like gold dust. The teams fighting relegation generally pick up more points over the last eight games than those at the top end. We think we need to win five; the likelihood is that three wins and a draw will get it done. Incredible wobbles for Leicester and Leeds last night. It'll come as no surprise if we're held tonight by a dangerous, free spirited, fast opposition like Watford.

2 wins in the last 15 Championship games for Watford….
All that tells me is Watford ain’t used to winning games….and we all know our home record.
I think we win tonight and comfortable.

#Nomore - They're unbeaten in their last 4 though, and have drawn with Leeds, West Brom & Preston in the last 3, all clubs in form, having been ahead in the first 2 of those, so they will be no pushover.
If we are seeking to finish in the top 2, we should be winning this game, but they are a 2nd season parachute payments side, with some very dangerous players, so it will be a very good result of we get the win.
