 | Forum Thread | McKenna - this reads very well at 15:55 16 Dec 2021
From Wikipedia: Following his arrival at Manchester United's under-18s as their new manager, Indy Boonen, who was a teenage player for United at the time, praised McKenna, stating, "He changed everything. The way we trained was how the opponent played on the Saturday. If you played against West Brom, you trained how they are and focused on their weaknesses."[5] Jim Magilton, the Irish Football Association's elite performance director, agreed with Boonen's appraisal of McKenna, commenting, "He is a meticulous planner yet every session is spontaneous. Nothing is set in stone. He adjusts the session to how the players are and gets what he wants out of the session. Everything is linked and game related. Nothing is for show – it has to be about the game."[5] After claims that McKenna's coaching methods "lacked continental expertise", some Manchester United supporters backed the coach, with them believing that McKenna is one of the greatest young coaches in England.[10] It was claimed that players were not convinced about McKenna's coaching, though manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær and fellow assistant coach Michael Carrick trust him.[10] United insiders, employed by The Times, stated, "McKenna [is] to be one of the best young coaches in England – and [is] one who will only get better. He helps on the pre-match preparations, [he is] determined to get United the best possible chance of tactically outclassing their opposition. And McKenna reportedly spends every plane or coach journey going over footage of matches, pouring over data and relaying it to his superiors."[10] |
 | Forum Thread | Something at the club is wrong at 11:32 16 Dec 2021
We need an inside scoop to tell the story of what on earth is going on with the club. We had a taster of demolition man with Paul Hurst and Cook's variant has been equally poor. But the quality of the players we have now are so much better. Is there dressing room unrest? What was going on with Norwood? Why can't we just get some stability and consistency in the side? Are we becoming like Newcastle, with an overinflated view of ourselves? And how on earth can this be turned around? |
 | Forum Thread | Daniel Farke - seriously at 21:31 6 Dec 2021
Read this and tell me he wouldn’t work here: 5. Daniel Farke The soft-spoken German coach was really stuck in a tricky situation as Norwich boss. His system of play had created a dynamic side that made absolute mincemeat of the Championship. In their last two seasons in the division they won it both times racking up a combined total of 191 points via 56 wins and 23 draws with 168 goals scored. However when scaled up to Premier League level that same squad simply lacked the quality to actively compete with better teams (in particular, to score the same number of goals they did in the Championship) and Farke’s unyielding devotion to his style of play left them wide open defensively. https://www.squawka.com/en/top-10-best-out-of-work-managers/ |
 | Forum Thread | Cook's sacking means... at 12:03 6 Dec 2021
... every single manager appointed by Marcus Evans has been either a failure, or an abject failure. We'll never know if Gamechanger went along with Cook just to ensure the deal would go through. But goodness me, Evans' record of failure is shocking. |
 | Forum Thread | So, what was going on in the background at 17:48 5 Dec 2021
…that Cook had to deal with? We know his father passed recently, which must have been tough to deal with. But what was Norwood hunting at? Dressing room unrest? Overbearing interference from Ashton/the owners? Players still not settling in? Anyone got the scoop? |
 | Forum Thread | So, why wasn't Chaplin's goal offside? at 17:35 25 Sep 2021
I don't pretend to understand the rule, but Bonne was behind the keeper, and the ball when it was in play and then passed to the goalscorer who was Chaplin as even Clare's goat knows. Polite explanations only, please [Post edited 25 Sep 2021 17:56]
