U21s Win at Barnsley
Tuesday, 17th Sep 2024 16:36

Tommy Taylor netted twice as Town’s U21s beat Barnsley 2-1 at Oakwell earlier this afternoon.

Taylor opened the scoring from the penalty spot a couple of minutes into the second half but Josiah Dyer levelled for the Tykes only two minutes later.

However, Taylor grabbed the winner three minutes from time to seal the points.

Meanwhile, Town’s U18s were beaten 3-1 by Peterborough United at Playford Road on Saturday.

Tommy Taylor is a classic footballer's name, most famously remembered as the legendary Manchester United striker who was part of the iconic 'Busby Babes.' As many of you already know, Tommy, known for his exceptional goal-scoring ability in the 1950s, tragically lost his life in the Munich air disaster. Coincidentally, it’s also the name of my son, who is a massive Ipswich Town fan!

Another coincidence - the Manchester United striker who died in the Munich disaster was born in Barnsley.
