|Our recruitment is a joke|

I’m not just talking about first team level, which has hardly been a roaring success. We have been used to our youngsters playing for their countries from U15 to U21 levels but this year, for the first time in a long time, nothing.

...unfortunately it was spoiled for me because iFollow linked me up with BBC Radio Lancashire and I had Brett Ormerod as the co-commentator, spending all his time concentrating on what the home side were doing wrong.

...and I was shouted down by those who thought they knew better. I was anti-Lambert from day one and always felt he would show his true colours. But buying drinks and paying fans’ bus fares bought him time to which he was not entitled and we are now stuck with the loser and his predictable diatribe at press conferences. I’ve got to ask if there is anyone out there who still genuinely believes that Lambert deserves to be in charge?

I see there is a celebration dinner taking place next year, details of which were revealed yesterday. The organisers are promising the attendance of at least 10 members of the winning line-up “and others” and tickets cost £100 plus VAT.
Surely, any commemorative event should be a fund-raiser for the club, rather than a money spinner for people who do not necessarily have the club’s best interests at heart.
Furthermore, why have the players apparently committed themselves to this event? I can only think they have been made an offer they cannot refuse.
I find it rather exasperating that the club appear to have been caught napping here and it will not be either the celebration, nor the fund raiser, it should be.
Also, how many fans can actually afford a ticket at such an exorbitant price, especially in these difficult times?
We are often accused of living in the past but our historical achievements must be celebrated - ideally at a club-organised event rather than one hijacked by some out-of-Towners whose motives appear to be primarily financial.

Where have I heard that before? Ah, yes, it was Paul Hurst’s record when he was told to do one.
Somewhat weakens the case for Lambert and his cronies to be given lucrative five-year deals.
