No Recall Clause in Phillips Loan Deal Friday, 27th Sep 2024 18:00 There is no January recall clause in Kalvin Phillips’s season-long loan with the Blues from Manchester City, TWTD understands. Speculation that the Premier League club might look to bring the England midfielder back to the Etihad in the January window has circulated since Rodri suffered a season-ending ACL injury during last week’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal. Quizzed on the matter at his press conference this afternoon, manager Kieran McKenna wasn’t sure whether there was a recall clause in the deal, but TWTD can confirm that the agreement does not include the provision for a January return. “The truthful answer is I've not checked,” McKenna said. “I don't think there is, but I can't tell you 100 per cent. “I know the plan from our side, from his side, from Man City's side is that he comes here and has a season with us and gets back to playing regularly and helps the team here. “And we're going to try and help him develop while [he’s here] and build up to a good place in his career, while he's going to do everything he can to help the team. That’s 100 per cent the plan and I'm sure that remains the plan on all sides.”
