Muric Named in Kosovo Squad
Friday, 4th Oct 2024 16:17

Blues keeper Aro Muric has been named in the Kosovo squad for their UEFA Nations League games against Lithuania and Cyprus.

The 25-year-old, who has previously won 39 caps, is included in the party despite having been sent home for breaking squad rules following the first of last month’s two fixtures along with teammates Edon Zhegrova and Florent Muslija.

It was reported they had stayed out too late in a nightclub, a claim the Town number one bitterly disputed.

According to an FFK (Kosovan FA) press release, the trio have now apologised for their conduct: “In advance, the latter have made a letter of apology to the selector, footballers, federation and fans for disobeying the rules, stating that in the future they will give the best for their country.”

Kosovo take on the Lithuanians away in Kaunas on Saturday 12th October, then host the Cypriots in Pristina on Tuesday 15th October.

The Kosovans are currently second in Nations League Group C2.

Don’t be a naughty boy Aro, or they’ll put you on the naughty step again!

From my research, it seems players were told he be the hotel in beddy byes, by a certain time and not to drink. He went to a nightclub until 2/3 am "for food" and claims he didn't drink alcohol, thereby was a victim of a witch hunt. Its possible the Kosovo team management sent him home for no reason whatsoever but its also possible he did something they didn't care for. I know where I would out my money as a objective observer (which I am not, as a town fan)
Hopefully he can behave himself this time, do as he is told and come back and play brilliantly for us. A learning experience perhaps, he is a young man, with a lot of money and perhaps this experience and the support of ITFC will help him mature
