Town to Wear Pink at Spurs Thursday, 7th Nov 2024 15:41 Town’s men’s side will wear their pink third kit for the first time when they face Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon, club sponsor Ed Sheeran has announced.
Sheeran was involved in the design of the kit, which is inspired by traditional Suffolk pink and features a silhouette of Framlingham Castle, the castle on the hill in Sheeran’s famed song.
Ipswich’s Wolsey Gate, reflected in the turrets at the top of the Town badge, is also included in the design.
Soundwaves from the cheer of the Portman Road crowd as players run out of the tunnel also appear on the front of the shirt, as does a representation of the 60 miles of Suffolk coastline, running from Felixstowe to Lowestoft.
In addition, ’Ed Sheeran x Ipswich Town’ is on the inside the neck with an Ipswich Town heart motif on the back.
Ipswich Town Women are the only side to have worn the kit so far, in their 5-1 thrashing of Plymouth at Home Park in October.
Town, playing their first competitive match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, will be looking to end their winless start to the season at the 11th attempt.
Last time they played at Spurs in the 2001/02 season, at the old White Hart Lane ground, the Blues ended a 15-game winless Premier League run by winning 2-1.

I could only get a ticket right at the back behind a goal so this kit is ideal for my failing eyesight :-)

Has anyone ever seen a comment or opinion from Blues1? Because all they ever do is come on here and criticise others!

I was diagnosed as colour blind the other week. The news came completely out of the pink.

I will probably get lynched as an out of date old dinosaur but I think it's hideous, like marmite I suppose love it or hate it, I hope we do not become a laughing stock if we get hammered!

Hopefully the ref will have a better view of our players, especially in the opponents penalty box.

I am a man, and I love this kit! Phew.. That was difficult.. I feel so embarrassed, I can feel my masculinity waning as I write this

I don't much like it personally, and I find the connection with "Suffolk pink" a bit far-fetched. I haven't seen too many luminous pink houses in the county. Also, I can't see any reason why blue would clash with white, so why change? A clash of colours used to be the only criterion for changing shirts. But I guess these days it's a marketing ploy. However, I also agree with TractorBoy58 - as long as we put in a good performance, who cares?

...if you dont like it dont worry about it...but many do like it...it , thanks to Ed,it brings in extra revenue and broadens our profile to world wide levels....I unfortunately fall into the 'sad sod' category of being 60 with Grandpa on the back, although not to be worn around Town , but on holidays abroad as looks great in the sun and an ice breaker to talk to fans in the bar from other clubs..

It's not a pastel "feminine" pink, it's a highlighter pink. Will help us get seen on & off the pitch. Might even be a dig at referees not being able to see us. Who knows? We've got bigger issues to deal with than shirt colours. Like it or not, we'll wear what's best & will have been well thought through by Ashton.

Pink kit aside, does anyone realistically see us getting a win at Spurs ?

Everything that is wrong with football these days. No colour clash so purely a marketing ploy.

No lover of this kit but that is just opinion. I would, however, reiterate that others have commented, that there is supposed to be a move for teams to where kits that are a stark contrast to help those with certain eye conditions. I suggest white v blue is more of a contrast that white v pink. As a general rule, I'd rather us not change kits unless we are forced to by virtue of a clash. Regarding the upcoming Manchester United fixture that will be a great occasion at Portman Road, I can't help but think it will be diminished if Manchester United play in white, which is likely, rather than the famous red.

There we are then.....Spurs 1 Ipswich 5 !! I have a couple of pink shirts and love them. But when it comes to football though I'm far more of a traditionalist. When we can wear blue, we should wear blue.

Good old greentractorboy...another down mark :) you'd obviously have us playing in green and yellow as an alternative. Try giving us a post...that would be a first!

Possibly Town's worst kit ever. Why are we wearing this rather than our 2nd choice kit? More PL-type marketing nonsense.
