Wolves Forward Cunha Charged By FA
Tuesday, 17th Dec 2024 11:34

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha has been charged with misconduct by the FA following the incident following the Blues’ 2-1 victory over the Old Gold at Molineux on Saturday.

Cunha was pictured elbowing a member of the Town security staff in the back of the head and then removing his glasses and shoving him in the face in a fracas at the end of the match which also led to his teammate Rayan Aït-Nouri being shown a second yellow card and Liam Delap picking up his fifth booking of the season, which will keep him out of Saturday’s home game against Newcastle.

The FA allege the Brazilian acted in an improper manner and has until Thursday to provide a response.

Will be interesting to see how long the ban is for his behaviour.

Trust he’ll be appropriately and severely punished for behaviour which was unsavoury ,unprofessional and totally unacceptable both in sport and everyday life !
It has to be stopped in its tracks ,with possibly lengthy bans and the heaviest of fines!
What explanation can there be for such physical assault and hooligan-like conduct ?

This needs to be at least a 3 match ban, but a 10 match ban would not be excessive.

A Wolves points deduction would not be excessive due to the regularity of these post match problems.

I hope this will be a significant ban. Totally unacceptable behaviour.

SORRY EUROPABLUE! Of course I meant to mark you up. Mobile keyboard too small for my clumsy fingers.

4 matches, I should think. That idiot Aït-Nouri also deserves a few match ban.

Terrible behaviour and a dreadful advert for the Premier League. Throw the book at him.

What has been alleged amounts to a physical assault, and in my opinion should be reported to the Police for an investigation into exactly what happened. As it was recorded on camera, the evidence is there. The alleged victim is not a footballer, but a man employed to do a job, and therefore should be able to go about his business without being physically assaulted. If a prosecution were to be the end result of this ugly incident, it would show others that this kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable.

He is head and shoulders Wolves best player, but looked pi**ed off all game, even when he scored.....I think he just decided he needed a break and wanted to take the family away for Xmas ! Should be around 5 game ban and that should get him to the January transfer window when he will almost certainly be sold and end his torture! That surely cannot hurt our chances of finishing higher than Wolves either. COYB
Morsy and McKenna's Men, We're Staying In The Prem !

If it was a fan entering the pitch it would be at least a 3 year ban from all grounds in England and Wales and a percentage of his monthly wage. But he will most likely just get a 5 game ban and 2 weeks wages.

Should be a 10 match ban, and a public flogging. His family home should be reduced to rubble. And Wolves should be deducted 20 points.

Complete lack of discipline both by individuals and the club. Hopefully if he receives a long ban then that will weaken their survival prospects.

Leicester play Wolves on Sunday.
I wouldn't mind him being available for that game and getting Wolves a draw.

Can you imagine the uproar if he turfed a person out of a wheel chair & pushed away the wheelchair?

Yet pulling someone's glasses off that they need to see properly after elbowing them in the back of the head is somehow OK in Cuhnas mind?

Why was Wolves "pitch security" just watching on but ours having to get involved to defend our players & staff?

Hang your heads in shame, Wolves.

Just want to say what a legend our security person was. So professional under disgraceful provocation. Don’t know who he is but he’s a credit to the club.

I would change the rule when a player gets a 3 match ban for such a serious offence. The club concerned should start the next 3 games with 10 men that would hit them hard.

If there’s any justice ?? - a 5 Match Ban has to be the Punishment - otherwise where is the Deterrent for such idiotic, uncontrollable behaviour.

Lord_Mac added 15:54 - Dec 17
It's a Level 4 offence, so the ban will be substantial. One wonders if the yellow card on Delap should be rescinded under the circumstances.

I think it comes under this:

The Football Association (FA) deals with assault on a match official by a player through a disciplinary process that includes the following steps:

Reporting
The referee completes a misconduct report form and submits it to the appropriate association.

Regulatory Commission
The FA establishes a Regulatory Commission to examine the claim. The commission considers the referee's report, reports from other match officials, and any other relevant evidence.

Written decision
The commission sends a written statement to the player and the Chief Regulatory Officer. The statement includes the charges, whether they were admitted or denied, the decision on whether misconduct was proven, and any penalty or order.

Sanction
The player is sanctioned for the assault. For example, a player found guilty of assault or attempted assault may be suspended from football for 5–10 years. If the assault caused injury, the suspension is at least 10 years, plus the player must attend an education course.

The FA also deals with other offenses against match officials, including:
Physical contact: A suspension of 112 days–2 years, plus a fine and an education course
Threatening behavior: A suspension of 56 days–182 days
Abusive language or behavior: A breach of FA Rule E3.1
The police are generally not involved in minor criminal offenses on the field of play. They consider these incidents to be more appropriately dealt with by the FA.

Really should have issued an apology to the Town staff member as well as Ipswich by now, surely?

Liam Delap is fast becoming my favourite player of the present squad, but on a disciplinary note how unprofessional is it to be booked in the tunnel after the game to now having to miss the game against Newcastle, he’s such an important player for us at the moment with Hirst being injured.
He’s got himself into the book far too much this season, stuff he should have walked away from, he must have a bet on with Morsy.
Yes he’s young and full of himself for which I admire him for, but I’d admire him even more if he was a little wiser in his actions.
Wolves players seem totally intent on self implosion if their last two games are to go by and sacking their manager won’t help unless he is at the centre of it all and has lost their trust in him.
