Town Apply For Planning Permission For Temporary Training Ground Buildings
Saturday, 18th Jan 2025 17:19

Town have applied for planning permission for three temporary modular buildings at their Playford Road training ground ahead of the full redevelopment, for which plans were submitted in November.

Two of the interim buildings will be on the Playford Road side of the training ground behind the existing modular units, which in turn are behind the current main building at the site, by the 3G pitch.

The third will be on the Bent Lane side close to the derelict canteen building and current visitors’ car park, not far from the entrance to that side of the grounds.

The proposed temporary Playford Road buildings will be a family room, offering sheltered seating provision for the families of academy players, and a classroom for
academy scholars.

The new modular building on the Bent Lane side would house male and female changing rooms.

The application says the three units are interim measures ahead of the major redevelopment, which is set to cost from £20-£30 million, providing facilities required as the club looks to move the academy up to category one. The three buildings will be removed once the permanent structures are completed.

5 years ago I would have said people were insane for suggesting we might be where we are right now, let alone the plans for the future. SBR / SAR must be sleeping well looking down on a club they put on the map.

Looking forward to the better players we will be recruiting once the redevelopment is complete, from what KM said when the project was announced it will make playing for us far more attractive.

Anyone who says these owners are not here for the long term is really dense. There will be ups and downs but there is a long term plan. Get behind them and the club no matter what happens this season as the future is bright.
