Burgess in Australia Squad Friday, 14th Mar 2025 00:37 Town centre-half Cameron Burgess has been named in the Australia squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Indonesia and China during the international break.
The Socceroos face the Indonesians - who haven’t included Blues defender Elkan Baggott in their squad - at the Sydney Football Stadium on Thursday 20th March and China at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium, Hangzhou on Tuesday 25th March. Australia are currently second in their group.
Burgess, 29, has previously won 13 full caps without scoring an international goal.
Blues midfielder Massimo Luongo, who came out of international retirement in October, is not included.

One of our success stories who along with Woolfeden, Greaves and O'Shea has been great whenever called upon. We have a really good defence when Davis doesn't play and Townsend does and I think at right back next season Tunazabe and Harry Clarke be fine, just hope Davis is sold for a tidy profit and we get another left back or just use Greaves to cover Townsend and put Woolf or Burgess in. Palmer is calm. Humphries back if in Championship he should get chance, I think Cajuste may stay, hopefully. Ogbene will be back. Palmer Tunazabe O'Shea C Greaves Townsend Cajuste Humphries Phillogene Hutchinson J Clarke Szmodicks Very strong team that for Championship, if we stay in Prem be a different midfielder to Humphries, and maybe Delap stays. New players so we have a strong bench and we will be getting there. Need 1 or 2 strikers, couple midfielders and a left back if Davis hopefully goes and a keeper but I think Slicker maybe back up especially if we in Championship. You look at that team and its an exciting one without new additions. Just need to keep moving forward and replace the League one stalwarts with new members of the Blue Army

Australia has been absolute rubbish lately, why they wouldn't add Massimo is beyond me!

Davis, is better than half players mentioned. If we go down tunzabe and cajuste will nor be playing championship next season. Who we signings szmodicks from? Agree about humphries being a big part of next season. Think midfield will be unrecognisable next season with current loans out and some of the old guard released or used for impact subs. Defence should be pretty much OK and attack likely a change for delap. So hopefully settled minus the mid.
