Greaves Returns For Blues Against Arsenal
Sunday, 20th Apr 2025 13:34

Town have made one change for this afternoon’s live Sky game against Arsenal at Portman Road with Jacob Greaves coming in for Cameron Burgess at the centre of the defence.

The Australian international drops to a bench which also includes Ben Godfrey, in the squad for the first time since the Tottenham game two months ago.

George Hirst keeps his place as the number nine with Liam Delap, who suffered a rib injury against Wolves a fortnight ago, again a sub.

On the bench for the first time is left-back Somto Boniface, the 19-year-old having joined the Blues from Chelsea in January and having been impressive in the U21s in recent weeks, scoring in his last two matches.

Conor Townsend and Nathan Broadhead are both absent from the 20-man squad, while Omari Hutchinson and Kalvin Phillips also remain unavailable.

Odds for today's match as well as odds for ufc betting are widely available.

Arsenal make three changes from the team which completed a 5-1 on-aggregate Champions League victory over Real Madrid in midweek with Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Leandro Trossard coming in for Jurrien Timber, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Thomas Partey, who are all on the bench. Bukayo Saka starts in the Premier League for the first time since December.

Town: Palmer, Tuanzebe, O’Shea, Greaves, Davis, Morsy (c), Cajuste, Johnson, Enciso, Clarke, Hirst. Subs: Walton, Woolfenden, Burgess, Godfrey, Boniface, Taylor, Luongo, Chaplin, Delap.

Arsenal: Raya, Saliba, White, Saka, Odegaard (c), Martinelli, Kiwior, Zinchenko, Trossard, Merino, Rice. Subs: Neto, Tierney, Partey, Timber, Sterling, Butler-Oyedeji, Henry-Francis, Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri. Referee: Chris Kavanagh (Lancashire). VAR: Darren England.

Saka vs Davis. It’s not going to turn out very well.

Could have really done with Townsend today. That left hand side looks so lightweight defensively.

Tinkerman at it again, draw Chelsea means drop Burgess.
Davis vs Saka and Rice vs Morsy
J Clarke once again pushed inside.
Let's count how many times Davis out of position.
Look difference in benches lol

Really!?! Davis starting and playing the 4-2-3-1 still. Townsend needs to be staring in the LB slot.

As per every goal almost, over to left Davis not marking a cut past him across goal tap in and Morsy jogging back, get Boniface on or Burgess and move Greaves over, it's embaressing that teams all score same way every game.

….. Leejames - Scoring against us is easier than any opposing Manager could EVER believe.
Only a Fool does the same time, after time, after time - and expects a different outcome.

Arsenal 2 - Davis 0
On the left over Davis, winger cuts in cross and goal and Mckenna still keeps him on, get Burgess or Boniface on

Davis is awful, out of his depth and taking out a player because he couldn't compete and then takes off J Clarke why? We could just go back 4

People will still justify Mckenna, say not Davis fault , we tried hard.

Arsenal played Real Madrid in Spain this week.

Fine margins, part of a journey yawn

Too slow, no fight and outplayed.. So far sums up the season. Can't understand how any Itfc supporter can say they've enjoyed this season. Maybe there are too many who've been along to PR have done so to watch the opposition? Roll on The Championship and some excitement and a few wins.

It’s quite simple, if you are going to g to play Davis, you need Burgess in the team, if youwant to play Greaves you need Townsend tin the team, but not Greaves and Davis together!

Should of started Burgess i middle and Greaves on left.

Davis' is a total liability and he's let his teammates down. His foul on Saka was a disgrace, nowhere near the ball and a definite red.

"Impartial" Chris. Sutton doing Sky summary?? He will give us nothing. So biased.

As much as I dislike Sutton I agree with the majority he's said...you can't argue against being poor and outclassed as we are exactly that. The 2nd half is just a kick around in our final third with Arsenal doing the conducting.
