Ipswich Town 0-4 Arsenal - Match Report Sunday, 20th Apr 2025 16:04 Leandro Trossard netted twice and Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri once each as Arsenal comfortably beat 10-man Town 4-0 at Portman Road to inflict the Blues’ seventh successive home loss - a new club record - and move relegation a step nearer to being confirmed. There was really only one side in it throughout with Trossard giving the Gunners the lead on 14, before Martinelli added the second in the 18th minute, prior to Leif Davis being shown a straight red card for catching Bukayo Saka high up the back of his calf, then in the second half Trossard added a third on 69 and sub Nwaneri a fourth with two minutes left on the clock.
Town made one change from the team which drew 2-2 at Chelsea last week with Jacob Greaves coming in for Cameron Burgess at the centre of the defence.
The Australian international dropped to a bench which also included Ben Godfrey, in the squad for the first time since the Tottenham game two months ago.
George Hirst kept his place as the number nine with Liam Delap, who suffered a rib injury against Wolves a fortnight ago, again a sub.
On the bench for the first time was left-back Somto Boniface, the 19-year-old having joined the Blues from Chelsea in January and having been impressive in the U21s in recent weeks, scoring in his last two matches.
Conor Townsend and Nathan Broadhead were both absent from the 20-man squad, while Omari Hutchinson and Kalvin Phillips also remain unavailable.
Arsenal made three changes from the team which completed a 5-1 on-aggregate Champions League victory over Real Madrid in midweek with Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Trossard coming in for Jurrien Timber, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Thomas Partey, who were all on the bench. Saka started in the Premier League for the first time since December.
Unsurprisingly, the Gunners dominated possession from the off, but in the fifth minute, Jens Cajuste won the ball just outside the Town area and drove forward but the Sweden international’s ball for Hirst to chase was too far in front of the Blues striker.
Arsenal threatened for the first time moments later, Saka getting round the back of Davis on the right of the box and cutting inside to Trossard but Axel Tuanzebe did very well to get across to block.
On nine, Julio Enciso cut in from the left and hit a shot which smashed against White with Town claims for handball - mainly from the fans - rightly ignored by referee Chris Kavanagh.
On 14, Enciso dispossessed Declan Rice not far outside the box then took the ball forward to the edge of the area before failing to find Hirst with a pass.
And from that attack breaking down, Arsenal counter-attacked and took the lead. Saka was fed on the right by skipper Martin Odegaard and the England international cut the ball inside. Odegaard failed to get a significant touch but it ran to Trossard on the penalty spot and, despite a Sam Morsy challenge putting him on the floor, the Belgian international was able to shoot through Dara O’Shea’s legs and past Alex Palmer to his right.
Goalscorer Trossard blazed over on 18, then on 22 Jack Clarke looped a cross-shot well over after a sharp Town break down the right, Cajuste having instigated the move.
But play quickly moved back to the other end, Tuanzebe blocking from Martinelli for the first of two corners. From the second, Mikel Merino headed wide at close range at the far post having escaped Tuanzebe perhaps having more of an eye on not colliding with the woodwork than directing the ball into the net.
However, the Gunners didn’t have to wait too long for their second. In the 29th minute, Saka again cut back from the right, Merino flicked it towards the back post with the inside of his right heel and Martinelli tapped home.
Three minutes later, Town’s afternoon got even worse when Davis was shown a straight red card, the first of his career.
The left-back stabbed a boot at the back of Saka’s heel with the forward’s back to him just over halfway. Saka leapt dramatically into the air and referee Kavanagh showed little hesitation in dismissing the former Leeds United man.
VAR took a look at it before confirming the decision, Davis having caught Saka well up the back of his leg with his studs with the ball well in front of the Arsenal man, who was OK to continue after treatment.
The Blues immediately made a change, bringing Burgess on for Clarke and moving Greaves to left-back.
The game continued in much the same vein as before the red card and on 37 Saka, booed by the Town support, cut in from the right and shot across the face and wide.
Saka, whether deservedly or otherwise, Portman Road’s pantomime villain, missed another good opportunity a minute later, shooting wide with only Palmer to beat, much to the delight of the North Stand.
Three minutes before the break, Saka hit a low shot from a tight angle on the right which Palmer claimed low.
Moments later, Saka was at the centre of things again, sweeping a low Trossard cross from the right wide, catching O’Shea with his studs with the follow through, causing the North Stand to ambitiously call for a red card.
On 45, referee Kavanagh awarding Town only their second free-kick of the half, Hirst having been fouled by Jakub Kiwior on halfway, received the biggest cheer at that point, the official having been somewhat reluctant to give decisions in the Blues’ favour.
Arsenal maintained the pressure in five additional minutes without seriously threatening to score again before the whistle, Saka receiving more boos as he left the field.
Aside from a couple of early Town counter-attacks, there had only been one side in it from the start and Arsenal goals seemed only a matter of time, the Blues having been caught committing players forward but still with enough men back to have defended the break better.
It was difficult seeing the Blues come back from 2-0 down with 11 men, let alone 10, Davis making a frustrated and rash stab for a ball which wasn’t there to be won and catching Saka well up the back of his leg.
Town, with a long half ahead of them, swapped Enciso for Jack Taylor ahead of the restart with the Blues playing a 5-3-1 system.
The second half began as the first had ended, Odegaard hitting a shot from a tight angle on the left which Palmer bundled behind for another flag-kick with the Gunners pinning the Blues back in their penalty area.
Town eventually dug their way out of their own final third and on 53 created an opportunity, Ben Johnson crossing low to Hirst with his back to goal just inside the box but the ball was taken away from the Scotland international as he sought to lay it back to Cajuste.
Three minutes later, Morsy drove forward from inside the Town half and played forward to Hirst on the left, the striker cutting in and hitting a low shot only just past David Raya’s left post.
Arsenal made their first changes of the game moments later in the 57th minute, Saka, who was again booed as he left the field, and Merino making way for Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The Gunners continued to dominate and prod and probe for a third, although without too much urgency, the three Town centre-halves getting their heads to crosses and Palmer claiming everything which came his way.
On 65, Palmer took a Blues free-kick from just inside his own half and found O’Shea to the left of the box, the Irish international centre-half nodding down to Taylor, whose effort was blocked.
Three minutes later, a Martinelli shot from the left of the area was deflected wide for the first of two corners. From the second, the ball was played to Martinelli on the edge of the box but his strike was blocked with Arsenal subsequently winning a third corner on the left from which they added their third goal.
Town, who up to that point had defended assiduously since the break, were caught asleep as the ball was played to Rice, who moved it on to Trossard, who had been left completely on his own and fired low across Palmer and into the corner of the net.
In the 73rd minute, Arsenal swapped Martinelli and Rice for Raheem Sterling and Kieran Tierney.
The Blues made two further changes in the 82nd minute with Hirst and Cajuste, Town’s best two performers on the day, making way for Delap and Massimo Luongo. Two minutes later, Arsenal swapped Trossard for Nathan Butler-Oyedeji.
On 87, Oleksandr Zinchenko hit a free-kick into the wall, then Odegaard hit the post with an effort from the right of the box.
Palmer then made a sharp save, tipping a first-time effort from sub Butler-Oyedeji over the bar but a fourth Arsenal goal came following the resultant corner.
Odegaard played a pass to Nwaneri in space on the right of the area and the sub cut in and hit a shot which deflected off both O’Shea and Burgess and into the net.
As the fourth official indicated four additional minutes, Town swapped Morsy for Conor Chaplin.
Zinchenko shot narrowly over, then Taylor scraped an effort from distance well wide before referee Kavanagh ended a game Town had never looked like taking anything from.
Davis’s red card had made life even tougher, but at 2-0 down taking anything from the game had already looked a hopeless task against a very composed Arsenal side which looked a level above the Chelsea team the Blues matched a week ago.
The challenge which led to Davis’s dismissal - the left-back will now miss three games including next week's trip to Newcastle, the club he supports - probably wouldn’t have led to a card a decade or so ago but it was high up the back of Saka’s leg with his studs catching the Arsenal man and it was difficult to argue against it.
In the second half, the Blues defended resolutely until being caught cold at the corner which led to the third goal with the fourth coming via a similar route.
Town have now lost seven in a row for the first time at home in their history and relegation will be confirmed next week at Newcastle unless the Blues win at St James’ Park and West Ham lose at Brighton.

Dissboy - more or less agree with your player assessment, spot on I'd say. Also have to agree with your thoughts on where our best aims would be in this division and unlike quite a few on here through the poll taken thought we'd end up towards mid-table (never gone to happen), l thought we'd might just survive but clearly that has been beyond us, it's just the manner and how poor we've been since the New Year that has annoyed me somewhat - we're going down without a whimper.

Embarrassing. I remember sitting in the stand watching us play in League One against teams like Oxford who only turned up to defend away from home to get a draw or a goal on the break against us. The difference now is we were at home, desperate for points, although we set up to for defence against attack, but let four goals in. As for the red card…. Pure stupidity.

Don't know what all the angst is on here we were relegated after the first crystal palace game . We were promoted playing free flowing attacking football we should of stuck with that at least we entertained different from the boring 12 passes to gain 10 yards then pass back to keeper.

Ericgatesshinpad, you marked me down for calling out Robsonwarks's homophobic innuendo. Presumably you think that's OK in 2025 do you? Are you willing to explain yourself?

@renoble Thankyou for you post without abuse and respecting my opinion, sorry for the delay, I often wait to read the ridiculous, like the comments on here, who watch our beloved club and pride themselves and think they better supporters because they went in league 1 or go to away games, they feel this forum is a cult for their opinions and theirs is the right one, and we should sign nobody and no new players are allowed into Mckennas inner sanctum and will blame anything and everything that isn't Mckenna and the league 1 promotion team. They refuse to accept stats or facts and quite frankly because of this they have played a big part in our downfall this season and their behaviour towards Ipswich Town players who they happily slate but if anything is said about their heroes they collectively attack. Nobody new with new views is welcome, this is their forum and they let you know about it, if your not happy to be in League One then you are not a fan and any thought of evolving is not accepted because they believe we have the best players already and the best manager and eith a season or 2 in the Championship those same players with a few additions from the Ivory Coast or Spanish League 2 we will take our rightful place as an established Prem team, Mckennas statue will go up, Morsy and Luongo will be next managers and we should all just be quiet as we are on a journey and a process and once Mckenna has ironed out the fine margins we will be a force to be reckoned with, but league 2 or Prem nobody to discusses Mckenna or his untouchables in a negative way and new fans and new players are not welcome and not needed. Their proffered team if all fit is Walton H Clarke Woolfenden Burgess Davis Morsy J Taylor Burns Broadhead Chaplin Hirst Subs Palmer (has been allowed) Tunazabe (allowed signed in EFL) Baggott Humphries Harness Al Hamadi Luongo Couple of loans That's all they want and that team they feel went up just a season or so too quick. That's the forum in its main, and to have a different opinion is not welcome and means you talk bs, you have mental health problems, your sexual orientation is even questions by a couple of extreme fans. I look at it this way, I am a supporter since 84 my first game was a 1-0 loss to man utd a Bryan Robson penalty, went to every game in the family enclosure, my fave player early on was Brennan, then Lowe, Yallop, and so on. My Dad prior to me went in the Robson heyday and told me of the 6-0 Man Utd win etc so to be told you are a fan of Norwich or clueless by fans of team we are both supposed to support is awful. Fans are getting worse at Ipswich Town booing one of the best players in England right now who doesn't say boo to a goose and we all cheer for England who got a horrendous challenge which could of badly injured him just because he gave Davis a lesson in being a Prem player was frankly disgusting and not what I remember Town fans used to be, we applauding bad tackles and booing our own players. That's the backstory on my thoughts of how people act on here, on a separate post I will answer your kind post as requested.

i fell in love with blue team in 1962 as a eleven year old, i suppose i could be classed a glory hunter then going by what rubbish is spouted on here by some.i have seen all the good times and the really bad, i have been to every home game this season can't go away anymore, my assessment on our season is muric absolutely horrendous cost us badly phillips very disappointing the midfield has been bad all season if you have no control in midfield its always putting pressure on defence.and finally ljjames while i agree with some points you make you talk utter tripe on others you should be managing at a much higher level than you are mckenna has made some errors this season but cut the bloke some slack rome not built in a season.

Long post don't read if not interested in my opinion, I am replying to a post as requested. League 1Mckenna comes in and inherits a team mostly signed by Paul Cook who were top League 1 or Championship players or who were surplus at some Prem clubs, stabalised the first season, put his stamp on team, signed Hirst and despite a long season got promoted ableit beaten to title by Plymouth, a great season finally out and players done well on a league that was in their comfort zone. Championship, we don't have the financial to compete in signing many players but as many of the squad had played in Championship and a good team spirit at the club it was the additions of the loan players that enabled us to get that edge, Travis, Hutchinson, Sarrimento, Williams, Moore all made a difference most specifically Hutchinson. The one let down and i believe the difference betwern second place and the title was not giving Dane Scarlett a run instead of Hirst. Hirst excelled in League 1 but struggled to find the net in Championship and we were lucky we had goals coming from all over, it was the first sign of things to come with Mckenna signing players of quality but not using them but aside of that we continued the fairytale referd to by the cult and their leader as a "journey' and promotion was seccured great for the club, the town and the owners and a proud achievement by the manager his coaches and the players a historic season aleays part of clubs history, we are in the promised land. Now many on here have been duped by the excuse of promoted too early, gulf too big, terrible signings, injuries which suggests that had Burns and Chaplin had not been injured things would be very different, wrong of course but as I said in previous post they will blame anything but the obvious and facts and stats are not accepted. Here is my take I 100% agreed that the players who came from league 1 and championship should of been given the chance to play in Premier League but I also knew like the board and the owners and check my historic posts that we were 99% certain of relegation and 17th place was a tiny possibility, the new signings even knew it, Jack Clarke alluded to it in his last interview. We were promoted twice with the same players and loans but now we are in the Prem so we had 2 realistic choices, looking at the teams in tge league after 22 years away who could we possibly edge out, maybe Wolves, Palace, Hammers, Everton but really 4 staples of the Prem for years financially solid etc etc we were going down and we all knew it so we did the absolute right thing, the choices were buy some Prem stalwarts looking for a paycheck and platform like Luton did with Barry and Andros Townsend etc or use the windfall with progression in mind, the right thing, we now have a ground that is Prem ready, training facilities Prem ready but we also went and bought the best the Championship had to offer that will and should give us the edge for going back up next season, with players proven in the Championship, know that league but are young enough to develop and tipped for the top and to give them a taste of the Prem and its physicallity and the standard required, players too good for Championship but not quite ready for Prem but with additions and a season of a winning mentality in the Championship could emulate what Fergie did at Man Utd. J Clarke scores for fun, Phillogene and Hutchinson glide past players for fun, Szmodics top scorer by a country mile, Muric Man City Academy, Prem experienced, already an international, Championship keeper of season and still young enough to improve, Palmer another solid Championship keeper. Sent Humphries out to compete in a tough league with tough tackles, H Clarke to go and battle at the top of Championship again O'Shea and Greaves same mould, a gem in Townsend, sent Al Hammadi on loan to sed if he can cut it in Championship as we will require in our squad and then the exceptional Championship players we knew we already had and lets see who can make the step up in the Prem to retain in Championship for the next stage and who cant, everything it seems on paper a masterstroke by Ashton and Mckenna, he may not be stupid and knew our fate made that very clear to knew signings, told them of his plan, including Delap, made them very aware that despite wanting maximum effort when called upon that they should expect another season in Championship but for that would get paid the same wage and rewarded with long 5 year contracts and future success would be built around them with evolving additions added in each window. That is still possible, very much so and if Mckenna is as good as we think them he has just given those players a platform in Prem so we can get decent fees and return on them, they can go to decent clubs continuing their careers and he has treated them well and rewarded them for 2 promotions knowing as a coach from Man Utd that realistically those players are not Prem standard but gave them every chance to prove they are, some took it and others we all probaly expected to didn't. That's why he hasn't bothered Implementing all the new signings as yet. If that's the case it is excellent managers to quietly get the ground and facilities ready, create a global brand via Ed Sheeran and Wardly, invest in talent and put players we signed for time fees in the biggest shop window in world where sales of any of them will be tenfold. In my opinion and I hope this is exactly what Mckenna and Ashton have done. Fans on forums believe all the paper hype in regards to Delap etc which is easy to do, I work in PR and do not I know what's needed to make a narrative and that's all it is. Delap is not ready for a top 6 club yet, maybe not even Prmier League yet, done amazing of course, does he want to go and warm a top 6 club I don't think so, does he want to go into another relegation battle no I don't think he does. Does he want to be part of a big club, with big plans with his England team mates and close academy friends and former team mates at Hull you bet he does, does he love Sheeran yes! We shouldn't underestimate his pull in all of this. Do we think Man City were stupid enough to let Delap go for next to nothing like they made the mistake of with Palmer and Rogers abliet big sell on clauses of course they didn't, will they allow Delap to go to a rival of course they won't, was Ashton stupid enough to put relegation clause at the end of just 1 season where we are favourites to go down and at 30 Mill and Man City agreed of course he isn't and of course they didn't. Football is a business first. If Delap goes anywhere it will be back to Man City and his only other choice is to stay at Town continue his progression and score every week, it's simple Man City won't allow Town to let him go for 30 mull on the trajectory he is on given that he is their academy player so any profit is 100% profit hence the buy back, if he is the next Harry Kane for England it will either be for Manchester City or Ipswich Town. Man City can buy him back now, they might, and Town make a tidy profit and will go and buy another 20 million prospect or he will choose to stay at Town and I'm 99% sure his release clause will be at the end of next season not this one, Ashton has always said we are protected. None of our new signings will have relegation clauses or release clauses that low, it just ridiculous business to even contemplate that a club spends 150 million on talent as the favourites for relegation to put relegation clauses or release clauses in for the inevitable so forget that and do not be surprised to see Delap starting for Town in August, there is though the possibility that Delap has am amazing Euros and a Prem club wants to pay 50 to 60 mill in which case Town and City may both say thankyou very much and sell. Whatever happens Yown do well out of Liam and my feeling is he stays. So who goes, as I said my opinion is that the players of two promotions were given the opportunity but also the shop window and will be the players that go. These are who I think definately go as we make tidy profits on them and it's only fair on them because although they might be valuable in Championship they won't be in Prem, their contracts run out in 2026 so we will cash in now Hirst (may get new deal, my feeling is with the international call up we will cash in, 26 coming to prime might stay but only if he is happy as a squad player, will never be our main striker) Walton Burns Chaplin Harness Al Hamadi Davis Luongo J Taylor Broadhead - unfortunately unless again happy as squad player but I feel a Wrexhsm will come in for him. Morsy may stay if its his last year playing and would be useful for team spirit but I think he will get a Saudi move) I think Burgess goes Tunazabe stays I think H Clarke and Humphries will stay and be given chance as they should. Woolfenden stays. The absolute priority is signing Cajuste, we had an obligation to sign him if in Prem but an option to buy also that will be taken up I'm sure. A new mid will come in and I think Downes would be a good option, a new LB and new CM and I think prem experience along with another striker comes in. We then keep the majority of parachute money and go back up with money to spend purely on recruitment. My starting 11 first day in Championship I believe will be Muric/Palmer Tunazabe Greaves O'Shea Townsend/new LB Cajuste New mid/loan J Clarke Hutchinson Szmodics Delap Subs Ogbene Phillogene Woolfenden H Clarke New Mid New defender Humphries New striker Johnson If I'm right and that happens Or I could be wrong and Mckenna keeps his favourites and mid table finish in which case needs to go now. Over to you, when you reply give your theories and thoughts not just BS etc

@dieselmorris I am afraid you are very wrong without being disrespectful you are just following the narrative in regards to Muric, you all shy away from the stats unfortunately. I'd aplohre you to look at the fixture list up to the Chelsea game in December, look at the shorelines and goals conceeded and tell me which games Muric cost us points, if you say Brentford away when we are 2-0 up please explain why at 2-0 H Clarke is not blamed for loss giving away a needless pen and getting sent off putting us at 10 men the entire game If you say 2nd game vs Man City please tell us how in our first away game for 22 years you seen us beating the league champions Man City If you say Southampton justify the abuse Muric was getting by his own fans and how making a save but then not another despite 3 town defenders not following in is his fault And explain how the Bournemouth winner was his fault the equaliser was. That's his 6 mistakes so even of we blamed Muric entirely vs Saints what other games did we lose that we should of and would of won up to the Chelsea game had Palmer or Walton been in goal. I think you will find draws against Villa, Man Utd, Brighton, Fulham, win at Spurs and at Wolves were cutrtousy of Muric heroics but because his mistakes were calamitous he became the scapegoat, its actually sickening when Palmer and Walton have conceded double what Muric did. It's nonsense I'm talking facts and stats, some of you seem to evaluate based on the live game only.

Don't have to read it, could just do what doublepivot and northstandfella etc do qnd just mark down because they know they cannot actually justify the Muric situation, I just read above someone wrote that the players probaly given up and that's understandable and that's acceptable is it when you aren't even relegated, could of closed gap to 6 vs Wolves, the excuses some football fans on here make is unheard of by any club, who accepts this season as okay, expected yes but dropping 27 points, conceding 38 goals and counting since Jan, the worst home record in the club history, booing our own players, booing an England International after horrific tackle and applauding the player off who did it and cost us both goals to boot. Applauding defeat, not embracing change and then have the gall to come on here and be abusive to fellow supporters who dare to join the cult of fans who think because they travel away have more say, you don't! You veiw our football club with blinkers, lack ambition and accept defeat, and are duped by narratives. Hate campaigns against fell9w fans and players. I don't hate on players I just state their ability is not Prem standard for majority. I dont care if you supported Town since programmes were the size of a hand or you only started enjoying football yesterday, your opinions are as valid as mine and every other fan, but don't push your stance on others with no clarity or explanation of your behaviours. First and foremost we are a family club, been through the mill for 22 years, we finally gey in a position to be great again and it's only accepted on your terms of Mckenna as manager and players you like, it's football, you have to evolve. I suggest you read what Vardy and Coady have said about their relegation can you imagine our skipper doing same. Are you cult fans happy spending your hard earned money on a season tickets and match day expenses to see Town lose every home game bar 1, to give up when staying up is still possible. It's ridiculous!

@ipswicholdboy Thanks I take that, doesn't interest me down votes, it's a forum people are fine to disagree absolutely,my problem is with the ones who have no response with facts or stats aside nonsense. I'm just saying what the majority of fans are thinking and all the pundits and reporters are saying and bringing reality backed by stats and facts and I'm on the side of progression and don't see why we should accept going backwards now we are in a good position, I said all season we will be better for a season with our new signings in Championship and evolving to the next stage, but alot of fans have acted appalling and need to be called out for it, there is neatly 30,000 fans or close too go to Portman Road so downmarket by a handful of people on here and daft comments don't bother me. I've only been on here since last season as I was working at sea. I didn't realise there was a time frame to join? I'm starting to gather it is very much a cult forum and the fans on here think they are the shareholders and its only a platform for their opinions. Childish names etc all pathetic, happy to engage and listen to other opinions but nonsense like Muric costing points etc is just nonsense or Phillogene is rubbish, new signings rubbish it's all a bit ridiculous, the maddest thing this season has been only a few on here have recognised how bad Davis has been. I'm happy to be proved wrong but I won't be and we all still be on here next season raving about Phillogene, Clarke, Greaves, Muric etc and the likes of Davis and Burns and maybe Mckenna will just be another part of Towns history

Farke next season will show us how to ‘stay up’ - but how long will it take us to get another chance. Based on this seasons performance, another yesterday - Who Knows ?? What I do know is - our Owners will not be at all HAPPY right now !! And if you don’t expect Big Changes - then Dream On you Dreamboats !

Well that is most likely Sheff United in the mix next year too, as history shows us the play offs is usually a random club so Bristol City could get their season in spotlight but we know only 1 of Sheff Utd, Sunderland, Boro, Coventry, West Brom, plus heavily backed Birmingham and Wrexham will all be in the mix, we have 1 real go at this and Mckenna is out of passes now, he has the worst home record in club history and by end of the season worst goal tally in shortest time. If Ashton and he, as they should, planned this as enviable and let the players signed in league 1 go, het the Delap situation sorted quick, along with Cajuste, which I'm sure they will have already, we need to get in and get our deals done the min window opens. They should already have identified the players we want and have bids ready, do not give promoted clubs or prem teams time to pounce. If Ashton has the slightest inkling Mckenna is sticking to his values and journey with the same players then he must be shown the door and a new manager in quickly, and won who has Prem knowledge. If Kmk is not going to change his tactics, or playing staff then he needs to be held accountable and as Match Of The Day said there is an air of arrogance about him and Davis etc now like they are untouchable. Whoever is standing on the pitch on the first game of the Championship will define the next steps for the club it's that simple. I personally think he may have planned very well for Championship but proved this season he does not have the management skills to make big judgements and can't rally a team to win, he has wrapped them in cotton wool. He sells the players he inherited or he buys a new mansion in in Milton Keynes or similar l, he will either be the next Fergie with new signings or the next Danny Cowly with the old ones.
