Fulham Linked With Johnson Tuesday, 29th Apr 2025 19:56 Fulham are reportedly interested in Town right-back Ben Johnson.
The 25-year-old joined the Blues on a free transfer last summer having been released by his boyhood club West Ham United, signing a four-year deal.
Now, according to Sky Sports News, the Cottagers are keen on the Londoner, who has never played outside of the Premier League.
His contract is understood not to feature a relegation clause and the former England U21 international will be in Kieran McKenna’s plans for next season having made a strong end to this campaign.
Town will be under no pressure to sell this summer - although are all but certain to lose Liam Delap due to the £30 million relegation release clause in his contract - and will be keen to keep most of the squad together ahead of their 2025/26 Championship campaign.

Ben Johnson will be good in Championship but as someone said we did get him on a free so any sale is profit but how much to get a good right back in who can make step up to prem if promoted. I know alot of fans on here don't want the 'band of brothers' to go but many are out of contract in 26 and how many would be in squad again if promoted back to Prem? Surely now is the time to cash in as all of them will make a significant profit on what they were bought for and all in late 20's now. Surely it's better to buy new midfield and have a squad who can step up also. Surely it is better for some of their careers to go also. I think H Clarke, Woolfenden, hopefully Burgess, Chaplin, Broadhead (maybe) and Hirst stay if Mckenna here then Morsy also. Some players have to go, hopefully Humphries be good but if not there yet the entire midfield needs revamp, Morsy shouldn't really be in squad as he won't play in Prem again.

Don't pay much regard to these stories just speculation. Would be surprised if he went to Fulham maybe as a squad player as he was at West Ham. Think lessons need to be learned from this season that the squad needs to be strengthened significantly if we have a future in the Premier league when we eventually get back in . Our player recruitment needs to be spread worldwide and not over pay for players from the championship.

Would rather see Harry Clarke back - Burns & Ogbene can cover the right hand side too.

@johnwarkshorts Davis has to go in my opinion for a couple of reasons. Firstly we only paid 1 mill for him so if we can get 10-12 for him that's really good profit. Secondly we know he isn't Prem quality as a LB and I think Mckenna has exposed how to beat us for the world to see. Finally if Davis stayed then we should sell J Clarke, Phillogene, Hutchinson and Szmodics because they all get played out of position to accomodate Davis. J Clarke has his game destroyed when Davis plays. I agree Davis was brilliant in Championship, I cannot fathom why Mckenna can't transform Delap to a left mid to rotate with J Clarke. We actually wouldn't need to sign many players if he did that we could play 4-4-2 easy Palmer Tunazabe O'Shea Greaves Townsend Davis/J Clarke Morsy Humphries Hutchinson/Phillogene Szmodics Hirst That would be a good 11 but Mckenna likes 3-4-2-1 with wing backs I dont see how Davis and all those left wingers can all be accomodated.

Leejames99. Here you go again, talking rubbish. The players we signed weren't signed with the championship in mind. They were bought bcse thats the only category of player we could sign due to psr. Yes, we could have tried to sign pl experienced players but then we'd only have been able to sign about 3 players, hence leaving us with most of the lge1 players who you keep slating. As for ur suggestion that we employ Sean Dyche as a replacement for Mckenna? Laughable. Simply doesn't fit the criteria the club look for. If u wanna go back to mccarthy style football that's ur right to say. No1 else wants it, I'd suggest.

Johnwarksshorts. We should sell Davis if an offer comes in, simply bcse Townsend is a far better defender then he is? Davis was brilliant going forwards in the championship, but even then, defensively, not great. Of course, that got shown up more this season in the pl. So for me, we have Townsend, and think Boniface could well be decent cover, so selling Davis could give us money to spend on strengthening the squad. Not against him staying by any means, but selling him may be for the best in the long run.

Please can everybody keep engaging with leejames99's constant posting? It's absolute comedy gold and I've never seen anything like it on twtd. How the bloke has any time left in the day to do anything else once he's done with his constant essays is beyond me.

@blues1 Sorry I didn't realise your opinions are the definitive ones. The first part of your drivel I have no idea what you are talking about, who said anything about buying PL experienced players? Although it's pretty obvious the players signed were bo8ght with one on Championship, why wouldn't they be we were favourites to go down. Re Dyche, what do we look for? Young, hungry, play exciting football? I'd argue that although that worked in lower league it absolutely did not in Prem and as like every pundit saying the only thing for a new club to do in the first season is stay there however resulted are grinded out so in my opinion Dyche is exactly the kind of manager needed who stops leaking goals first and foremost, sticking to the same tactics all season was ridiculous. Doesn't work in Prem having a manager only few years older than players unless the squad is all elite players. So you think if Mckenna goes (highly likely) then we will get another hungry young manager with no Prem experience. I think Ashton might have different idea now. @keightlyblue why do people who don't back league 1 players 'divs' and trolls. Is this forum just away fans who think they have a 'special' relationship with league 1 signed players.. What are you going to do when they and Mckenna go? Support Chesterfield, which be good as more season tickets for the ambitious fans who want Premiership stability for the football club not any league is fine as long as Sam Morsy and Wes Burns stay. We can only have 25 in squad so who do you want to go Its the same fans in this little cult who are obsessed with the past. @blues1 you, like me are entitled to opinion, its a forum, but you don't talk like it's opinion you talk like what you say goes and your in charge of this inner sanctum. I presume you are an origional on here with the name blues1

@bigbluetractor This is my last day on here, its not a forum where you can have a debate or opinion, it's just a fanclub where if you do not have 100% faith in the manager or players still in the squad from previous campaigns then you just get abuse and non related football related comments. We live in a country that is slowly becoming a dictatorship where if you disagree with a groups views you are vilified. It's only about the same 20 or 30 people who come on here with no ambition for Ipswich Town as a football club business only a fan club of Mckenna and the past. For me Ipswich Town has always been a family club and I can't think of a time I've seen players and new signings get abuse by our own fans and players being applauded for horror tackles. I am shocked people on here do not want Premiership stability and want another season with the same old players 'up or down support the town' is great and true but after 22 years and the club in a great place we have the right to want to be in the best league in the world and we won't be with league 1 quality players, no better time to refresh. Anyway my last day on here, I absolutely don't have time to reply to abuse or non Ipswich Town comments or with fans with no ambition. A forum is for debate and opinion and I think it should be set out that this is a fan club not a forum because it is only a handful of fans and I've noticed there is only myself and 5 or 6 others who have don't agree with majority which I can only imagine means other fans have got the same abuse from their fellow supporters. Ipswich Town Football Club should not be affiliated with this fan page as a forum because it isn't one, big difference between a forum and a fan club. Fans questioning other fans mental health, sexual orientation, sanity, profession, accusing them of being trolls for not having the same opinion is dictatorship and cult like. Being a professional footballer or manager on the public eye earning millions comes with scrutiny and critique good and bad. It's the same as the Blue Monday show there is no critique just one sided praise. Treatment of players signed this season aside Delap and Palmer strangely has been appalling. So I will not engage anymore with this nonsense of keeping Mckenna and league 1 players forever and chastising anyone who questions that, nor fans who call fellow fans trolls, mental, and worse. I will leave it there and have written to the club as this is not a forum for debate and opinion by Ipswich Town fans it's a fanclub page for Kmk and his 'band of brothers' and this should be pointed out when joining with rules that this is not a platform for debate only worship and the rules that need to adhered to along with trigger warnings of comments containing homophobic, mental health and bullying slurs of which are deemed inappropriate and in no way codoned by the club. You can find your next person to bully out now, I'm done, hopefully the club moves on soon so this fan club also becomes history and someone sets up a forum where debate and opinion is accepted as just opinion. Maybe this post will make you think twice about how you treat fellow fans of the same club, who want success but of the opinion it has to be with a refreshed approach. COYB

LJ. You've got as much right to express your opinions on this site as anyone else. People may not agree with your views, but that is their right too. You've strayed along way off if you think this is becoming a dictatorship. We're not in Russia or China. Keep posting. We love a good debate and difference of opinion.

Delap Release Clause - he could waive it if he wanted too as he is the beneficiary, or indeed he he could agree to an amendment of the contract by deleting the clause all together.

Johnson has looked better in a hand full of games since the New Year and that's when he played somewhat further forward and not in the RB position...overall I've been disappointed in him and I thought he was a good signing back in the Summer, not overly bothered if he goes.
