Delap Nominated For Young Player of the Season Award Thursday, 15th May 2025 13:15 Blues striker Liam Delap has been nominated for the Hublot Premier League Young Player of the Season award.
Delap, 22, has enjoyed a very successful first season in the Premier League since joining Town from Manchester City last summer, scoring 12 times and picking up two assists.
With a £30 million relegation release clause in his contract, the England U21 international is certain to leave Portman Road in the close season.
Delap is up against Ryan Gravenberch (Liverpool), Anthony Elanga (Nottingham Forest), Dean Huijsen (AFC Bournemouth), last year’s winner Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Joao Pedro (Brighton & Hove Albion), Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa) and William Saliba (Arsenal) for the gong which is for players aged below 23 at the start of the season.
Votes from the public, which can be registered here before 12:00 BST on Monday 19th May, will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner, who will be revealed next week.

I'm not sure he's even our player of the season

Dispite of what he's achieved in his first season in the Premier league for some reason he hasn't been that popular with a section of Town fans. Unfortunately he hasn't finished the season well maybe the long season playing up front on his own catching up with him. He might not have the personality fans like but his record of scoring 45 percent of our goals this season is a Premier league record.

The telling phrase here is long season playing up front on his own , you can add to that in a team that does not have enough players that work hard enough off the ball . A learning season at this level , next time and there will be a next time , we must learn the harsh lessons of this season .

Huijsen will get it. Very surprised delap hasn't been sent off tbh hahaha he loves pushing players in the back but I suppose that's what makes him an attractive/effective player, doesn't shy away. He hasn't always been at it though. Our young player of the season, yep, not many others to choose from though. not our player of the season though,it's cajuste for me

Only two players in running for player of the year O'shea and Delap. Cajuste hasn't played enough games has shown nice touches at times.
