Sheeran Revealed as Final Call Me Ted Artist
Thursday, 15th May 2025 21:06

Town sponsor and minority shareholder Ed Sheeran has been revealed as the artist for the 19th and final Call Me Ted poster of the season.

The brainchild of brothers Richard and Steve Haugh, and friends Kevin Bennett and Andy Mortimer, Call Me Ted has produced unique posters for every home match this season which have appeared in the programme for the relevant games.

This evening, the collective announced that Framlingham-based pop star Sheeran is the artist for the final-day game against West Ham United with the design itself set to be unveiled on Friday.

“Ed is an artist who uses house paint to create multi-layered works filled with energy,” Call Me Ted wrote on Instagram.

“When he’s not painting, Ed likes to keep busy by recording number one albums or performing on stage in front of millions of people around the world.

“He’s headlined Glastonbury, won multiple Grammy, BRITs and Ivor Novello Awards, and was even in Game of Thrones.

“But as they say, you can take the boy out of Ipswich, but you can’t take Ipswich out of the boy.

“Ed has teamed up with Call Me Ted for our poster for Ipswich Town’s Premier League match against West Ham, having collected some of our posters by our artist family over the season.”

Sheeran confirmed: “I have a bunch of them framed in my toilet in the studio, I love what they do.”

“We love Ed too,” Call Me Ted added. “However big he’s got, he’s always returned home to support grassroots initiatives and local musicians, and his support of the football club has been huge.

“Welcome to the Call Me Ted family Ed Sheeran. We look forward to unveiling his artwork tomorrow.”

Call Me Ted is holding an exhibition of the 19 posters in the Buttermarket during the week up to the West Ham match.

Why does Ed have to put his finger in every single Ipswich Town pie... is nothing at this club free from his finger poking.

Great way to sign off a great initiative.
It’s a shame (for whatever reason…Mark Ashton) that they removed it from the front cover.
Looking forward to going to the exhibition tonight!

I think its great, and I know that one the brothers behind Call me Ted was there in part with Ed at the start of his journey many years ago, so its nice that that bond has remained. On the back of this news though, my Radio Orwell strip Subbuteo themed artwork I was going to put forward is now in the recycle bin, lol, out done by young Ed. The CMT boys though have done brilliantly with this project, good luck to them I say.

I just love the fact my home town, for which I have an inexplicable love, is out there on the international stage. And as much as I'm not mega keen on Ed's music (or frankly the whole sanitised music industry), I'd sooner someone like him with real talent was a global megastar than all those plastic popstars. Forza Ed! Forza Ipswich!

@wolfy Was he poking his fingers in when he sponsored the club shirts? Was he poking his fingers in when he dsigned the 3rd shirt? - both of these last 2 points are contributing factors in us selling more the 50k shirts a year. Was he poking his fingers in when he invested his money into the club as a shareholder? Was he pokiing his fingers in when he took the Ipswich Town brand to a global level like NO ONE EVER has done before?

You may not like his music (I'm not a fan myself though appreciate he is a huge talent) but you have to be very 'special' to see anything he has done as anything but positive for our club.

Well done Wolfy, you epitomise the sort of so called supporter we don't need. Back to supporting Maan U next season?
We are in a really fortunate position having ES as a world celebrity happy to promote the club worldwide, I wonder how many shirts have been sold due to him. Then we have Fabio Wardley fighting for the heavy weight championship at PR & no doubt wearing Ipswich on his trunks & perhaps too lesser people but important in promoting ITFC, Ali el Hamadi & Elkan Baggott both with massive followings from their home countries. No other team has that sort of star following, look at Man City, they've got the dumb Gallagher muppet
