Rangers Linked With Burgess Friday, 16th May 2025 22:57 Scottish giants Rangers are reportedly interested in out-of-contract Blues central defender Cameron Burgess.
The 29-year-old was born in Aberdeen before moving to Perth, Western Australia during his childhood but won caps at U18 and U19 levels with Scotland before switching his allegiance to the Socceroos.
According to Rangers Review, the Glasgow club is strongly interested in Burgess as they look to add to their defensive options in the summer.
The former Accrington Stanley and Fulham man was previously reported to be in advanced talks with La Liga side Girona regarding a summer move to Spain, while Blues boss Kieran McKenna has said talks with Burgess and Axel Tuanzebe, who is also out of contract at the end of the season, have been ongoing.
Burgess’s father Stuart played in the Scottish top flight with Falkirk, while his grandfather, Campbell Forsyth, a goalkeeper, won four full Scotland caps.

It would be a great move but hope he might sign a new deal with town as he has improved so much this last 2 seasons

Hang on to him. A great championship defender, and we have few in our squad who can pick a pass like him.

Probably towns most improved player, has had consistent improvement in his time with us!

He's been offered two new contracts already and turned them down. If he wants to move on where he knows he will be first choice in the season running up to the World Cup, fair play to him. Club have tried, player has his reasons, can't win them all

Should move on greaves is McKenna's preferred CB, Last season he was in our back 4 when we got promoted in the championship if he's a non starter it's a backward step, very good player good servant to the club and fans, thanks burg,

I hope we keep hold of him, but surely La Liga or The Championship is much more attractive than The SPL !

I wonder if Cam is disappointed that he has not had much opportunity with Town this past year, despite him being one of our best and most consistent performers. This would explain why he has rejected contracts to stay ... Noone wants to be in a situation of only playing when a new boy is unjured, and then being dropped again even before the new boy is actually match fit to perform anywhere near Cam's consistent level

I'd be trying everything I could to keep Burges. But I'd sell Woolfenden.

Got a feeling Spain might win this one….chance of a life time for him and his family……could be his last big contract.

Spain for Burgess could be a bit like Italy was for Ben Godfrey (remember him)?

I really hope we keep Burgess. He is better than Greaves in my opinion. It will be really sad if he goes.

Burgess is by far our best central defender.

I'd sell O'Shea and Greaves.

Underplayed by McKenna...considering we bought him from Accrington he's one who can hold his high after this season. But going up to that useless league in Scotland, far better to stay here.

McKenna has made so many errors this season and this is one of them, way better then Greaves.

BlueRuin. What are you on about? If hes so much better than Greaves, why was Greaves in the championship team of the year last season, and Burgess wasnt? To those saying burgess not played enough games, he's only played 5 less than Greaves. Greaves 23, Burgess 18, so clearly not a case of burgess only playing when Greaves not available as some are suggesting. Often is down to the type of forwards the opposition has, as to which of them plays. Would def like him to stay,, but he may justified this is the right time for him to have a new challenge. If thats the case, then I wish him well, and thank him for his time here.

Burgess was in the team that got promoted……

Greaves is 5 years younger and not yet at his peak. Burgess turns 30 in October and is looking for a long term deal. Cam is turning down deals because he wants one more long term deal and wants to be first choice i a world cup year. We can't force him to stay and we won't be offering long term deals to anybody at 30. It's the lads choice

Wow sounds like Burgess is a contender for player of the season if popularity is anything to go by. All this transfer talk is just speculation created by their agents.

The way the manager treats players like Burgess Broadhead and Townsend then why would you stay should pick players on form and his form was better than Greaves also the others treated poorly and its not picking the team for opposition if it was then so many mistakes by manager this season and another defeat with Leicester crap season all round 6 games to improve next season if not pay him off he has not earnt his 5 million salary this season but clever enough to have relegation claise in his contract that means cant be touched he should be embarrased if you take the plaudits you must also take the grief
