Delap 'Holds Manchester United Talks'
Monday, 19th May 2025 21:04

Town striker Liam Delap is reported to have held talks with Manchester United regarding a summer move to the Red Devils.

According to The Athletic, the 22-year-old was given permission by the Blues to speak to United to hear what would be on offer to him at Old Trafford should he move there in the summer.

Delap is all but certain to leave Town in the summer with the contract he signed when he joined from Manchester City a year ago featuring a £30 million relegation release clause.

As previously reported, some in Delap’s camp favour a move to United, but with plenty of other clubs also interested.

Chelsea and United’s interest has long been known, but Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham, Everton, Nottingham Forest have all more recently made overtures.

The England U21 international is understood to be openminded regarding his destination and is expected to talk to all interested parties before making his decision.

Don’t think he should go anywhere at the moment.
He is far from being a complete Premier standard player. Enormous potential granted.
A full season in The Championship could benefit him in the long term.
However if his heart is on going then fair enough.

Lots of bitter remarks or sour grapes towards Delap. A footballer's career is very short so if he gets another opportunity to play in the Premier league and doubles his earnings good luck to him. What he has done this season in the Premier league at a young age in a poor side has been remarkable. Playing in the championship is not going to improve his game. He might not get a regular game in a top Premier team but it would probably mean him going out on loan to one of the promoted teams.

Think forest would be his best club for Delap, managed well & he would fit in nicely to their playing style.
I’m sure McKenna has his eye on replacements already.
I think Omari will stay, he’s still young & learning. Give him a couple more seasons at the club, then he will be prem material. Hope O’Shea stays too. Humphrey’s will surely get a chance next season to shine. Think we will be fine with the squad we have. COYB’s
