Town Keen to Loan Chelsea Striker Guiu Thursday, 29th May 2025 15:02 Town are reportedly keen to sign Chelsea striker Marc Guiu on loan as part of the deal which will see Liam Delap move to Stamford Bridge.
As previously reported, Delap seems set to move to the West Londoners having recently held talks with a number of sides keen to trigger a £30 million relegation release clause in his Blues contract.
No deal is yet done between either the clubs - or the player and Chelsea - and, according to The Guardian, Town have indicated they’d like to take 19-year-old striker Guiu to Portman Road on loan.
Guiu is said to be unconvinced by the proposed switch as it stands, but whether that happens or not seems unlikely to prevent the Delap move from happening.
Granollers-born Guiu joined Chelsea in July 2024 from Barcelona after a €6 million release clause was activated, the striker signing a six-year deal.
Since then, 6ft 2in tall Guiu has made three Premier League sub appearances in addition to seven starts and four sub appearances in cups.
All six of his Chelsea goals have come in the UEFA Conference League, which the West Londoners claimed by beating Real Betis 4-1 in Wroclaw last night, Guiu coming on as an 88th-minute sub.

..."Tear up the championship", what like Philogene? We need players with a bit of physicality... how many more 5ft 6ins , 6stone lightweights are we going to bring in?

Also the lad probably isn’t sure about us as he’s come from a massive club like Barcelona to Chelsea then possibly to the second tier so give the lad a break

Good size quick feet....give the boy a break...most of you don't know anything about him but criticising him before he has even joined...just as most knew little or anything about Delap... Let's wait until players have signed and played a few games before criticising...

NottsBlue - agree that McKenna has been pretty indifferent/poor this season in terms of results. But, off the pitch, players do seem to respect him and generally want to stay (Cajuste?) Hopefully the on-pitch magic returns in August

So a lad at Chelsea is put on the spot about coming to the championship to a club he probably knows little about and says hes unsure. Stop the 'kin press! Really? Surely he should instantly know whats on offer, isnt it obvious :) "TRUST THE PROCESS". Yes the same one that saw us relegated, because it's the process that saw two promotions, the process that has seen Mark rebuild our football club from the Floorboards up and will see us rebuild a squad that will be the strongest in the Championship this year.

Bluebullet291. Why has hirst got go be our number1 striker? Surely we want some1 wholl score a lot more goals than hirst ever will? His career so far suggests he'll score 7 or 8 goals a season. Not enough, so need better. Yes, he holds the ball up well, bringing others into the game, but doesn't score enough goals, meaning we'd be relying on others to score the goals we need. If we wanna be in with a chance of going back up, we'll need some1,wholl score regularly.

ArnieM. Where does it say he doesnt want to play for is? Says hes uncertain about the move, which suggests he doesn't know enough about us right now. And will need to be confident a move to a club in the championship is the right move for him at this point in his career. End of the day, if he does sign, it'll mean he wants to play for us. If he decides he doesnt want to, then he'll reject the move.

History indicates that Hirst is unlikely to stay fit for long spells. These early rumours rarely turn out into any thing concrete. Some people are under the impression that Hirst is going to be our number one striker but i don't see that the Chelsea striker is very young we would require some experience as well i think. Kiefer Moore was very impressive for Sheffield United in the play off final his lay off for the Sunderland winner was class never really impressed me not enough goals and no pace.
