Hutchinson Exit Looking Closer as Brentford Agree Mbeumo Fee
Friday, 18th Jul 2025 13:23

Forward Omari Hutchinson’s Town exit looks to have moved a step closer with Brentford reported to have agreed a fee with Manchester United for Bryan Mbeumo.

The Bees view Hutchinson as a replacement for Mbeumo, for whom they are understood to have accepted a fee of £70 million - £65 million guaranteed - with the Red Devils.

On Tuesday, the West Londoners made a number of offers to the Blues for the England U21 international, eventually reaching the £35 million relegation release clause fee prior to it expiring at 5pm, but without meeting the required payment terms with bid payable over a long period.

While Town are not actively looking to sell Hutchinson this summer, the Bees appear certain to come back in with a further offer, which would have to be in excess of £35 million - some reports have claimed Town want £40 million - and on the basis of cash up front to the greater degree rather than over a period of years, which could well be acceptable to the club.

Elsewhere, Italian journalist Nicolo Shira says a deal to 2030 awaits the 21-year-old at Brentford.

Hutchinson, who has four years remaining on his Blues contract, is now believed to have returned from his holiday, having been given additional time off following the England U21s’ successful European Championship campaign, but is not with Town in Austria.

The Blues paid Chelsea an initial £20 million for Hutchinson last summer with the £2.5 million top-up clauses having been triggered over the last year. The West Londoners are understood to be due a percentage of the fee - 25 per cent of profit was reported at time of last year’s move - Town would receive.

Hutchinson is one of two of the Blues’ key players close to leaving with skipper Sam Morsy’s exit to Kuwait SC understood to be all but done, the Egypt international having been offered a very lucrative two-year deal.

If I've worked out the maths correctly behind any OH transfer, and my maths isn't always exemplary (!), then I'll base my conclusions on, lets say, a selling fee of £40M.

We paid an initial £20M, add to that the top up fee of £2.5M and we have a total outlay of £22.5M. IF the selling price is circa £40M then we have an initial profit on the deal of £17.5M. If I understand things correctly, Chelsea would then be due 25% of that £17.5M profit leaving us with a final profit on the whole deal standing at just over £13M. I've no problem in being corrected if I've gone wrong somewhere. Football finances are a tricky businesss!

Makes me laugh the likely acceptance of this at whatever profit. As a team we are significantly weaker without him Dalap and Sammy and therefore promotion is a long shot and then what
Don’t go selling your best players and expect success, especially those who know us!

He ain’t gone yet!
Just back from holiday he may well see Brentford as the wrong club right now.
If not we go again.

Another player who jumps ship at the first instance, and after a sell on fee going to Chelsea isn’t going to be such a great deal for us. Wonder who is due as his replacement because Burns has had a dreadful injury record the last 2 season and is Ogbene going to come back as strong after such a long lay off? Going to be a very difficult start with having to get these players to know how to play together.

Really, really hoping he doesn't go. Why sign a 5 year contract? It meant absolutely nothing!

If it is indeed Brentford, it'll ve a club i hope get relegated and do badly. They've already lost a few key players and don't even have a proper manager at the helm.

Omari, if you read this, just don't go. Look at the bigger picture. Brentford are relegation fodder.

You're loved at ITFC and can achieve amazing things st the club. Look at the long term project here.

Don't jump ship.❤️

Bangaloreblues, you're absolutely right.

I'd love us to bounce back straightaway but it now seems less and less likely that this will happen.

I hope I'm wrong.

To lose Hutchinson will be a huge, huge hammer blow. One I didn't think would happen.

Really disappointed in Omari if he does go.

Thought it was bad enough with Burgess going to chappy Swansea! Brentford, a team of absolute nothingness. Don't even get 18k at a home game.

So frustrating.

I wish I didn't love football.

No surprise what so ever...looks like we're going back to the bare bones of the Championship squad/players - McKenna has some work to do and to get a bit of quality back in again now we've sold Delap and Hutch looks like going for maybe £40M.

I don't understand these comments as I've not seen anywhere that Omari has said he wants to go to Brentford, let alone leave.
A club fancies signing him, they made a bid and it wasn't good enough for it to be considered, end of.....unless Brentford or a.n.other try again.
Am sure that is no different to what we are doing with these signings everybody is waiting for ITFC to announce.
We were poor last season in the Prem, it was always going to be tough and we knew it, we made loads of signings and had an incredible amount of injuries that seriously damaged our chances. All of the other reasons for our demise have been put on here hundreds of times.
Our two best players in the latter half of the season were O'Shea and Palmer, for me, and they are still at Town. We've at least 6 others who spent most of last season injured, so they will be in the mix to start.
Philigene and Burns I guess are not going to be ready, the former being the weakest and weediest excuse for a footballer I've ever seen (I think only Grealish falls over more), whilst I'm really hoping that when Wes is back we start using him as we did before i.e. cross field balls into the space behind for him to get onto (we all saw him in space in the early stages in the Prem but for some unknown reason the ball was rarely played out for him like we did in League 1 and the Championship.
I still have hope for the new season, but I was really surprised, pleasantly, that we kept going and got promoted despite a very poor defence 15 months ago. That for me will be key. Fingers crossed we get in a half decent right back, and a robust front man to lead the line along with Hirst.

I’d take 35-40m for OH. Didn’t set the prem alight and just lacks that half yard of pace for me. We have good options on the right in WB and Ogbene. Plus we could get 3-4 Matusiwa quality players in for the positions we need to fill more urgently, would be transformative for the team.

If he wants to go and thinks it will be better for his career then fair enough but pay the cash up front no time payments Brentford.

Really don't think Brentford is a step up from us even though they are premier league
