Wrexham Closing in On Broadhead Signing Wednesday, 30th Jul 2025 09:51 Town are understood to have agreed a fee from Wrexham for forward Nathan Broadhead.
Yesterday, it emerged that the Red Dragons had made an approach to the Blues for the Wales international, who was left out of the squad for the friendly against Charlton at Colchester.
It’s now reported by the EADT that a fee ultimately worth £7.5 million with add-ons has been agreed.
Rumours of Wrexham interest in Broadhead have been circulating all close season with the former Everton man having been in and out of the Town side last season in the Premier League.
Last summer, Broadhead was close to moving to former loan club Sunderland on deadline day but the Blues’ move to sign Reiss Nelson on loan from Arsenal broke down and the Bangor-born attacker remained at Portman Road.
Broadhead is set to become Wrexham’s biggest ever signing, beating the £5 million recently paid to Nottingham Forest for Lewis O’Brien.
The newly promoted side are also understood to be signing ex-Blues striker Kieffer Moore from Sheffield United for £4 million.

Will be sad to see him go. Always one of my favourite players of this era. It's disappointing he just couldn't nail down that place in the starting 11. £7m is a great price though and he surely goes with our very best wishes.

By a margin clearly the best player we have in that position

Well I for one will be disappointed if this happens...I can see Hutchinson going as well, so overall weakening our attacking strength.

blues1 - see you well and truly have your accountant head on rather than the footballing one, I for one will be disappointed to see him go. It seems the argument now days that it's okay for a player to go if he has a year left on his contract and we make a profit from him, by the way we signed him in 2023.

IN reality It's a good deal for all. Broady get a new plush contract on higher wages, we get good cash for a player with 1 year left with a dubious injury record and cover in the position Love you Nathan Broadhead Thank You.

Went to my 1st game at Portman Road in 1968. Players come & go all the time, we move on. One thing that does stay the same, the identity of ITFC.

Best of luck to him, still think he’s a better player than Clarke and Jaden. Yes they may have cost more, but he done more last year than those two combined.

Echo what MickMillsTash has said totally. Im getting a little tired of people moaning about us not yet having signed another forward. Do people think Mark Ashton is naive enough to let Delap go to Chelsea early without getting something in exchange? Madrid paid 10m Euros for Trent. Now that CFC will be returning from holidays, I would be amazed not to see an incoming season long loan of a player we have been quoted as after since May!

Ryan Reynolds will get him staring as either Broadpool or Deadhead.

Have to admit im worried about this. Always rated Nathan. His skills and eye for a pass are exceptional and he didn't look out of place in the Premier league. Clarke and Philogene are great players but they are quite lightweight. I really hope this doesn't come back to bite us.

Gutted! Huge step backwards for us.

I think this is all down to personality clash between the player and manager ...it cant be his footballing skills because he is a bloody good player... you watch him be a sensation at Wrexham this season. It may come back to haunt us I fear....

Still think he's worth way more than 7 million. I believe Norwich recently sold Sainz for somewhere between 15-20 million, is Sainz really twice as good as Broadhead? I don't think so.

Gutted by this one. Great on his day and shows real PL ability. Please announce hackney to soften the blow

And a typical sad comment from you blues1. What gets you up in the morning, thinking you can have a go at people on here? You need to take a day off. Presumably you have noticed we are selling our best players, that's what selling clubs do. And have you also noticed the club is up for sale and part of the attraction in the prospectus is how much money will come in from player sales? I know you're not the sharpest tool in the box, but that's pretty obvious.

Buttocks ready to get bitten by this one. I can see from all parties this may be the right move, but he's a decent player and I'm expecting him to play a significant part on our games against them.

He was desperate to go to Sunderland last season and didn't look happy when the deal fell through judging by his body language. Played some good games last season mainly coming off the bench where he was most effective.
