Como Striker Azón Set to Complete Town Loan Switch Thursday, 14th Aug 2025 10:02 Como striker Iván Azón is travelling to England to complete a loan move to the Blues, according to various reports in Spain.
News of the Blues’ interest in the former Spain U21 international first emerged a fortnight ago, a proposed loan move to Valencia having stalled.
The La Liga club still appeared favourites for his signature with the player having stated that was his preferred destination, but negotiations between Serie A Como and the Murciélagos failed to progress.
Town are understood to have offered significantly more for Azón’s services for the season than Valencia or any other club with Getafe and an unnamed Bundesliga side also said to be interested.
According to a number of Spanish sources, the Blues and Como have agreed terms and 22-year-old Azón is on his way to Town today to complete his loan switch.
Como were reported to want a €500,000 (£435,000) loan fee, while the deal is believed to include an obligation to become permanent for €10-€12 million (£8.6 million-£10.3 million) next summer if the Blues are promoted.
The clubs agreeing terms seems likely to have allowed the Blues to give the go-ahead to Nathan Broadhead’s long-awaited switch to Wrexham.
Azón's addition could also see Ali Al-Hamadi depart with Ligue 1 Toulouse understood to be frontrunners for his signature. As previously reported, Luton showed interest but are believed to have moved on with Charlton and Cardiff linked more recently.
Zaragoza-born Azón, who is 5ft 11in tall, started his career with his hometown club Real Zaragoza before moving to Como in January for €2 million (£1.7 million) plus a further €500,000 (£435,000).
He is still to make a competitive debut for Como, in part due to injury last season, but played 45 minutes in Sunday’s 5-0 friendly defeat in Barcelona, having also played a half against Real Betis last Wednesday, scoring a last-minute winner in a 3-2 away win, his fourth pre-season goal.
For Real Zaragoza, he scored 27 goals in 150 appearances, also picking up nine assists.
Azón will become the fourth Spaniard to represent the Blues following Pablo Couñago, Ivan Campo and Sito.

Well well what a surprise! didn't think he wanted to play for Town, good to see we've got reinforcements upfront just need to see our wide players actually do something. Welcome Ivan...

Since when did we spend 25m on Jack Clarke - more comedy gold.

Interesting that Como have replaced him with Álvaro Morata, on loan from AC Milan (via Galatasary). Cesc Fabregas and Thierry Henry know what they're doing.

Wow that video quality looks like the 1986 World Cup! :-) A very interesting addition to our squad, I'm sure KMK will get the best out of him. Hopefully, he'll settle in quickly and also buy a hat, scarf and gloves ready for the British winter.

Sorry virginblue my mistake thought it was £20 + £5m add ons but it was £20m with add ons included. STILL a complete and utter waste of money, would be a waste if it was £20 let alone £20m as he is useless

Nothing negative to say. The fact I’ve not seen him is irrelevant as it’s not my job to scout players. I suspect we e had a good look and like what we see. Ali hasn’t progressed for whatever reason and if we can get a decent fee that, along with the Boadhead cash and the £15m we were happy to spend on Hackney means we have scope for at least a couple more significant signings. If we get £40m for Omari I expect we’ll go big on his replacement as well.

Just hope McK has the nous to get all these arrivals to work together and get some cohesion in our play...and for a the matter some that have arrived here last season and contributed little.

In short, loans can work both ways, if a player does not perform to expectations, and we don’t get promoted, then he just goes back to his club. If he’s a big success, and we get promoted, then as we have an option to buy, he stays with us. As for Azón considering his options, why on earth not! I know I would, and so would anyone. After a few false starts this window, let’s celebrate his arrival when he actually signs on the dotted line.

we were hopelessly out of our depth last year in the Premiership with ONLY Delap capable of competing at that level,so unless we want to follow Norwich into parachute oblivion we must rebuild the team!!

We bought Clarke after the 2023/24 season when he was pretty much the best left winger in the Championship. He’s had a disappointing start to his town career, but if he gets back to that level he’ll be more than worth the fee paid for him. I don’t like to criticise KM, but he was always a proper hug the touch line player, which made him an odd fit given how far advanced we like Leif to play. I’d suggest that is definitely not on Jack Clarke.

So Como paid £1.7 million for him in January but he's yet to play a competitive game for them, and if we're promoted to the Premier League next summer we have to buy him for at least £8.6 million. Let's hope he's good!

I'm not sure that I currently trust the process. It seems that the players joining us are doing so under duress. Fortunately we can offer more money than La Liga or Bundesliga clubs, and thus, Como ship him out to us. I'm aware that we're starting afresh, but the current vibe around the club is very different from 2-3 seasons ago. Not so much a construction, more a 'let's get anything and hope it falls into place' !

What’s interesting is the contrast with Leeds. KMK wedded to the idea of get them young and develop. I thought the big lesson last season is we were out muscled, especially in midfield. KMK likes physically robust players in some positions but with Leeds it is everyone. The average height of the first team is 6’2”. If Leeds are right it’s a sure sign the game is going the same way as rugby.

Great work by MA trust the process …… I see all the happy clappers from Tuesday nights away end are on here!!! We sell broadhead proven at this level and bring in someone no one has ever heard of in the hope he does ok….. didn’t we do that with Philogene and Clarke… that’s gone well hasn’t it!

Hopefully, a good addition. The main problem I can see, apart from the lack of time to settle the new additions in, is deciding on which eleven players and which formation is our best starting point. But that's Mck's job, and I'm sure he knows what he's doing.

blues1, the Arizona State Fire Brigade want their money out and that's why the club is asking for 'investment', which is an ambiguous word. You don't think they want their ownership diluted, worth less, by others putting money in to buy players and run the club do you? The optimistic value of £1bn is to attract attention rather than a strong belief. What do you think they have seen so far this season to change their mind on selling? BTW, this is a post that doesn't call you a moron, or an idiot, or a Budgie for having a different view to me, perhaps you'd like to reciprocate.

Carberry, football fascinates me. It’s cult like.., 29 down votes for a comment which is 100% true, with zero conjecture, we are mostly signing loans on approaching £100 million of player sales - as the owners said they would, at the same time they carried we ARE for sale. Any business under sale. Would move depreciating player assets. Which return to ZERO over contract periods to cash if at all possible.., short term, but makes financial sense, and they won’t be here to sort out the consequences. Owners ARE NOT fans.., they are here for the business side of football (mostly) Our balance sheet at the end of the window. It will be about £50 million plus more then if we’d retained the players as depreciating assets. It’ll be worth a minimum of that amount in a sale, or even a multiple of that, depending how desperate and quickly they want to exit. Hmmm build a club strategically and for the long term I’d NOT what we are doing or have done for a long while. And Ashton does have a stake in that direction.., because it’s obvious he oversold our chances last summer, for huge investment, and these are the consequences. .., the cult like lemmings - it’s not to say we still can’t be succesful.., we CAN.., but how on earth can you look at all the exits, put your head in the sand and shout ‘la la la nothing to see here’ You’re exactly the ones, who when it does go the other way (if it does) will be full of vitriol and hatred towards Ashton etc Bizarre.

Why are people so against loans lf the product is not up to scratch we can send them back unlike Muric, Jack Clarke they become a financial burden. Maybe the player concerned doesn't want to commit himself long term. When it comes to loans it's all win win win in my opinion.

Prebbs007. Talking rubbish. Clarke is an excellent player. Needs to be played as an out and out winger tho. Jow does je stufle Leif attacking play? U clearly weren't watching on tuesday night, when twice in the 1st half, clarke ran with the ball, then played a perfect ball to dav,is to cut the ball across the box, for our best 2 chances of the half.

Carberry. Thi k your need to read my post again. Didnt call you any of those things. They are NOT trykngcto sell the club. Fact is, if they sold now, they'd still get less than they would if they sold later after their ownership is diluted. Due to the higher value of the club.
