Hutchinson: Ipswich Will Always Have a Place in My Heart Saturday, 16th Aug 2025 19:44 Exiting forward Omari Hutchinson has thanked everyone at Town and says Ipswich will always have a place in his heart having made his £37.5 million move to Nottingham Forest.
The 21-year-old’s switch was confirmed this afternoon, the England U21 international signing a five-year deal.
“Dear Ipswich Town,” Hutchinson wrote on Instagram. “It’s hard to put into words, but after two years of an unforgettable journey, it’s time for me to say goodbye to you guys.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone at the club for the memories we’ve created and to my teammates I shared a dressing room with.
“Most importantly to Kieran McKenna, I will always be grateful for what you done for me and helping me to become a better player and person.
“Town’s fans, I just want to say thank you for the endless love, thank you for believing in me and making this chapter so special. Ipswich will always have a place in my heart. 💙 Forever grateful, Marz20.”

Well I don't no about everyone else but I think the club is doing good business here Hutchinson is a good championship player but I'm not sure he'll cut it in the Premier league didn't do it last year don't no how he got to be worth 37.5 million

Thoughts aside on Omari as I've made mine clear, but £37.5 million gained from this switch for a player who doesn't want to be with us is insane!! Can buy 3 or 4 players with that

It seems like the replacement for Omari will be Norwegian U21 Sindre Walle Egeli playing for Danish side FC Nordsjælland. £18 supposed bit to the club

It was a shame how he finished with us but he helped us get to the Premier League and we have the relegation payments plus the sale money. Heres hoping the next future star wants to follows in his and Delaps foot steps.

Like any fan, nobody likes to see a good player leave and the "not being available to play" thing is not something that us Town fans are used to but nobody can really blame any player for wanting to play in the Premier League / increase his pay etc. Just look at Isaac and Wissa - it happens at the top level and don't forget Szmodics did similar last year, to get his Premier League to us. This is part and parcel of modern day football. Omari played a vital role in the second half of the Championship campaign and was the X Factor which got us over the line to promotion, particularly at the end and we should always be thankful for that. A really exciting player to watch and it was great to have him for those two years. Thank you and good luck Omari and we now all move on. Time to get behind the boys tomorrow.

A special thank you to the tv commentators in the Euro U21s. They bigged him up so much when he was average at best. He'd still be here if they hadn't, but we wouldn't have the £37.5m. Maybe they should ask his agent for a slice.

You carried us through to the premiership in those last key games just over a year ago. And well done for England U21s. See if you can do better than Keiron Dyer!

putting aside the last couple of weeks which has been very disappointing I can't get past the fact that Omari has been one of the most exciting players I have seen in a Town shirt in my 35 years as a fan. He was always going to leave for pastures new if we got relegated but I do wish him well. When he becomes an England hero at some point in the future I'm sure many will look back at the last 2 years with pride. I do understand the anger from others though.

It’s a shame it ended in the way it did, but I certainly don’t blame him wanting the move back to the Premier League and the chance to play European football. Time to move on and hope the funds are reinvested wisely and maybe we can get another up and coming ‘Omari’ or ‘Liam’ on loan from the Prem big boys to help with the promotion push this year. Let’s celebrate the two years of memories and valuable contributions he made and not let a couple of weeks of poor judgement on his part sour the relationship too much. Onwards and upwards!

I’m with one or two like WestSussexBlue. It was a pleasure to watch Hutchinson grow and play the way he did. I got to witness the dross of the Ferguson, Duncan and Evans years and anyone who had to endure that will understand what I’m on about. He’s a special talent and has huge potential. I never thought he’d sign for the club a year ago, being as promising as he is. But he did and has consequently made us a bit of money too. I don’t like the way he left for a number of reasons. I’m actually glad he’s gone for those reasons, despite really enjoying the way he played the game. He should have in my view been a lot more professional about it and I hope he learns from it - and gets a new Agent. Overall, water under the bridge. It’s done. To my knowledge he’s not murdered anyone or been cruel to animals so I shall wish him well and remember some amazing moments, not least that second goal v Huddersfield.

We were good for omari and he was very good for us.such a shame it ended like it did.all we asked as fans was that he made himself available to play for us until he was not our player anymore.was that seriously to much to ask.hope he goes well at forest, they have bought themselves a very watchable player.

Nothing against Forest, but i think Omari sh#t his bed with Town his empty words now are pathetic Club is first and foremost we all knew he was going to leve when relegated but his actions were a stab in the back and disrespectful . Goodbye.

Words are cheap! I have absolutely no problem about the fact that these guys want to play at the very highest level but there is a way to do these things. Downing tools is not one of them. He and his advisers could’ve played this a lot more savvy but it is now water under the bridge and our coffers are very much enhanced but I’m not sure his reputation is!

Good that he has thanked KMck for making him a better player and person. Just a shame that he allowed others to tell him how to manage his exit.Enjoyed watching him and wish him well.

It was clear as day he was leaving before he avoided playing, if that's really what happened. Frankly if I was Brentford or Forest I wouldn't have wanted him on a competitive pitch. Imagine if he'd been carried off injured against Birmingham, £37.5m down the drain. He's a young lad who has been fantastic for the club, and made us a huge profit. I think the club have done a great job bringing him on and selling him for that price. He wasn't that great in the Prem last year. I expect we can add better for half the price. Some of the vitriol on here is awful.

So he’s signed a 5 year contract… how many was the one he signed with us last summer? How many of those 5 will he stay loyal to, before his agent decides it’s ’time to move on’ again to get another payday?

What an embarrassment someone of our supporters are. Hutchinson gave us many good memories and without him maybe we’d not of got promoted. Can hardly blame the guy for choosing premier league and European football over the championship. I wish him all the best.

Some shameful comments from our keyboard warriors … good luck Omari … you are on a journey hopefully to the highest level in this game. ITFC has been part of that and I for one will watch your progress and be proud that our club has helped you on your way.
darkhorse28 added 23:29 - Aug 16
Blueoutlook - did you say the same about McKenna when he spent all summer agreeing terms with Brighton, not even a league above and in Europe? Not so much? The hypocrisy is pathetic, throwing g a youngster under the bus to save Ashtons career - woeful deflection, you’re a mug.
