Town Agree Fee For Norwegian Youngster Egeli
Friday, 29th Aug 2025 09:48

Town have agreed a fee with FC Nordsjælland for Norwegian international forward Sindre Walle Egeli.

Just over a week ago, the Blues were reported to be close to a deal for the 19-year-old with discussions having continued between the sides.

The clubs have now come to an agreement regarding a fee and the right-sided attacker was pictured on a flight from Copenhagen to the UK this morning and will be at the club to complete the formalities on his switch later this morning.

The fee is understood to be lower than reports in Denmark which claim the Blues will be paying an initial €20 million (£17.33 million) plus potentially a further €5 million (£4.3 million) in add-ons but will almost certainly be a new record paid by a Championship club, eclipsing the £15.4 million Burnley paid Genk for Mike Tresor last summer.

Larvik-born Egeli joined Nordsjælland’s academy from Sandefjord in his home country in 2022 and since then has made 43 appearances, scoring 11 goals and picking up 10 assists.

Having won Norway caps at U15, U16, U17, U18, U19 and U21 levels, he won his first and so far only full cap in 2024.

Given his age, Egeli wouldn’t count towards Town’s 25-man Championship squad.

Young, on the cusp of being a full international and a great replacement for Hutchinson. The club have tracked his progress, negotiated behind the scenes and landed the player they wanted. Further proof, if it was needed, that Ashton knows what he is doing and the owners are releasing funds. Now comes the bit we all want to see…….. a team that realises its potential and wins to celebrate.

Booming through the international transfers. Which is lovely to see. It will take a little time to bring all the strands together but the squad depth and quality is the best in the division. Over to you KM.

Fantastic news, will be a tremendous addition to our squad.
Our bench will be so strong going forward, the majority of which would get into most other sides in this league.

Excited about this one. Hope he can adjust with the pace of english football. Looks to have all the attributes, can play anywhere along the line and knows where the goal is. Assists and/or goals.

Be interesting to see who leaves and the squad makeup bearing in mind the 8 home grown players and loanees rules.

I hope everyone remembers this feeling at the next window. I hope Ashton doesn't read these comments because if I were him, I'd be pretty upset. Our club is showing it's ambition and we are building a really exciting squad. Not sure who doesn't make the squad now we've signed all these players, but, I trust our owner, MA, and KM. Let's please get behind them now.

I'll be judging them in 12 games time. Then I expect us to gel and look like a top 2 side. But I'm not expecting it tomorrow. I love what we're doing. Uppa town

Nice one! Hats off to the club for starting to spread our wings around the European (and beyond) market. My only concern is that some fans will be a bit too hasty in their expectations of Egeli. He is young and may need some time before he is ready to step into the team. We are, in this case, buying potential rather than a finished "product".

We deffo need another dribbler to unlock the low block we are going to see this season. Hopefully he gets a place on the bench tomorrow, assuming he signs before midday. A John Eustace team is surely going to frustrate us to the extreme.

Could be better than Omari and three years younger. The Norwegians believe he is the next Haaland . Thank you MA for getting the deal done

Hoorah! Super to see some positivity well expressed ! There’s never been any reason to doubt the skill and commitment at ITFC from the very top down ,and now there’s every reason for almost unrestricted enthusiasm !

This is the one I wanted. Absolutely incredible signing, usually young players like this are scooped up by the Liverpools and Arsenals of this world, we know Feyenoord were after him, so this is a real coup. Massive congratulations to the owners, to MA and the recruitment team - superb business this week, and this is the icing on the cake. Can't wait to see him at PR.
