Town manager George Burley has added his worries regarding the impending changes to the transfer system to those who have already spoken out. The Town manager said: "There seems little doubt that things will change, but the question is whether FIFA and the politicians can agree on some compromise that will not result in destroying the game as we know it."

The Town manager is concerned that many of the smaller clubs will go bust and the point of the Academies and Centres of Excellence will be lost should players have coontracts they can walk out of without any compensation to the club losing them. He sees a very bleak future ahead for many clubs and many unemployed players unless a compromise is reached.

The Town manager has also revealed that he made an offer for a Premiership player last week but was again knocked back. No confirmation on the identity but he may have been Steve Guppy who has been linked with Town in a couple of places and who would be an ideal replacement for Bobby Petta, a vacancy still to be filled more than a year on.

The Town manager has also been abroad and watched an international match at the weekend. Again his target remains a mystery, although the Blues' manager has said that he is after a full-back and a midfielder to strengthen his squad. Burley says that until such time as he has added to his squad no-one else will be going on loan anywhere. This will disappoint the likes of Sean Friars and Neil Midgley who were hoping for spells away from Town in order to gain first team experience.

Town still have 250 tickets available for tomorrow's match at Filbert Street. The Town team news is that there seems to be little change from yesterday. Mark Venus is doubtful with a thigh problem and John Scales looks likely to take his place. John McGreal may also be hopeful of a call-up should the former Leicester player not make it.

Matt Holland has again been dousing his ankle with the healing waters of Brighlingsea and looks likely to be fit. Mike Salmon comes in for Keith Branagan who has a knee injury.

Guillermo Graaven will be out for some weeks with the ankle injury sustained last week while Richard Naylor has started training with the youth team after his summer operations.

Town's manager George Burley said of his side's approach to tomorrow's game: "We will not be going there just looking for a draw; we will be going for the win, but we know we will have to be at our best."
