![]() Tuesday, 29th Jun 2004 09:42 Newly-promoted QPR are reported to be interested in Town full-back Chris Makin. The defender has turned down his new deal with the Blues but is set for further talks with manager Joe Royle today. The 31-year-old was offered a new two-month contract to prove his fitness after last season's hip problems, with a further year in the offing if his return was successful. Makin is also reportedly a potential target for former Town boss George Burley and Derby. Burley was the man who brought Makin to Portman Road from Sunderland in March 2001 for £1.4 million. Town boss Joe Royle has dismissed any interest in one of Burley's current players, defender Youl Mawene. In recent days the Frenchman's name has regularly appeared on the TWTD Message Board but Royle says he is not a player he is after, despite his agent claiming the Blues had asked about him.
