The club have released details of this summer's pre-season tour to Holland and Belgium. The Blues will take on Martijn Reuser's former side Willem II and then Belgian Jupiler League clubs Zulte-Waregem and St Truiden.

Former skipper Terry Butcher is close to joining Australian club Sydney FC. The former England man was also linked with the Town manager's job with one report claiming his agent had been in talks with chairman David Sheepshanks.

Released Town midfielder Kevin Horlock has joined Doncaster Rovers on a two-year deal. The 33-year-old spent two months on loan at the Earth Stadium towards the end of last season.

Preston North End chairman Derek Shaw admits that he expects interest in manager Billy Davies over the summer. Davies is understood to be Town's first choice as a successor to Joe Royle, while Derby County have also been linked.

Town have written to all 3,300 shareholders to announce an EGM convened to seek the authority to go ahead with the share issue first reported by TWTD in early April. The letter also reveals that Norwich Union, the club's main lender, will take a 10% stake in the club over the next two years.

Assistant manager Willie Donachie says he wants to succeed Joe Royle as Town boss. Donachie worked with Royle at Oldham, Everton and Manchester City before rejoining him at Portman Road in 2002 after a spell coaching at Sheffield Wednesday.

Norwegian midfielder Vemund Brekke Skard said he couldn't believe it when he heard that Joe Royle had left Town yesterday. The former Brumunddal man will be out to impress his new boss in pre-season.
