Released academy striker Charlie Sheringham has joined Crystal Palace on a two-year contract. The FA Youth Cup-winning squad member, son of former England star Teddy, joined the Eagles on trial at the end of last season after being told he had no future with the Blues.

Town will field all four trialists in tonight's second game of the pre-season tour against Belgian side Zulte-Waregem. The Blues will be without midfielder Matt Richards, due to the ankle injury he sustained in the Willem II match, and striker Sam Parkin who has a bruised foot.

Former Town winger Jimmy Leadbetter died this morning aged 78. Leadbetter was a member of Sir Alf Ramsey's back-to-back Division One and Division Two championship-winning side in 1960/61 and 1961/62, and also the victorious Division Three (South) team in 1956/57.

Former striker Darren Bent has signed a new four-year deal with Charlton, scuppering the chances of the Blues receiving a windfall from his transfer out of the Valley. Town are due 20% of any profit the Addicks make on the £2.6 million they have so far paid for the England striker should he move on.
