US A-League side the Charleston Battery have announced that Town will be playing them at their Blackbaud Stadium on May 9th. Town have a free weekend between the Manchester City and Derby games and the Battery, managed by former Bristol City manager Alan Dicks, offered us a friendly.

A fabulous Marcus Stewart hat-trick gave Town the points as the Blues dominated from virtually start to finish. Town went in one-up at the break and added two more in the second half. In truth it could have been many, many more against a Southampton side clearly reeling from the departure of Glenn Hoddle.

Town have been linked with Colin Healy, a midfield player from Celtic. Healy, 5'11", is 21 and hasn't made much of an impression on the first team at Parkhead, so far making only 18 starts plus another 15 appearances as sub, scoring two goals.

Town are now completely safe from relegation since Manchester City's somewhat comical defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend. With City and Coventry on 27 points after 31 games neither can get to the 49 points that Town are currently on and therefore we can definitely look at another season of Premiership football. Hurrah!

Ian Harte has apologised to Marcus Stewart for his outrageous overacting which saw the Town striker sent off in the Town-Leeds game in February. Town captain Matt Holland had words with the Leeds full-back while the two were away with Ireland last week.
