Goals from Chris Casement and a stunning Billy Clarke volley gave the reserves a 2-0 victory over Brighton in the Pontin's Holidays Football Combination League play-off held over from last season. It wasn't all good news for the Blues though, with Danny Haynes receiving a second half straight red card for violent conduct.

Several senior players are in action for the reserves against Brighton at Portman Road tonight in the Pontin's Holidays Football Combination play-off final held over from last season (KO 7pm). Town won last season's East Division and Brighton were victorious in the South.

A Town U18 side defeated Lincoln City 3-2 at Playford Road on Saturday morning. Jordan Rhodes netted twice after Jack Ainsley had opened the scoring.

Town romped to a 4-1 opening day victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Portman Road. The Blues went ahead through a Alan Lee's early penalty, then Gary Roberts lashed home a stunning volley, before Lee made it three at the break. Couñago added the fourth prior to Leon Clarke pulled one back.

Striker Alan Lee will be in Town's starting line-up as the Blues start the season with a home game against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. Lee was left shaken after being involved in a car accident in which a cyclist was injured earlier in the week, but will not miss the Owls' visit.
