Town boss Joe Royle is demanding an immediate return to winning ways when his side face Plymouth Argyle at Portman Road on Saturday. Royle says he will make changes to the side which lost 2-0 at Doncaster Rovers in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.

Town boss Joe Royle will ring the changes when the Blues make the trip to Doncaster Rovers for a second round Carling Cup tie on Tuesday (KO 7.45pm). Matt Richards, Tony Dinning and Dean Bowditch will all start Town's first game at Belle Vue since 1958.

Canada's poor start to their World Cup campaign continued last night when a Paulo Wanchope goal was enough to give Costa Rica a win in San Jose. Town central defender Jason De Vos was suspended for the game but also picked up an injury in the previous match, a 1-1 draw with Honduras.

Former loan star Alan Mahon is again being linked with a return to Portman Road. Mahon had a successful spell with the Blues last autumn while a Blackburn player but was eventually sold to Wigan with the Blues unable to match the fee paid by the Latics.

Town moved up to second in the league with a 2-1 home win over Wolves. The Blues went two-up through Darren Bent and a Tommy Miller penalty before Seyi Olofinjana pulled one back for the visitors. Stoke's victory over Derby later in the evening saw the Blues drop back down to third.

Two Shefki Kuqi goals either side of half-time gave the Blues their first away win of the season at Rotherham. The home side rarely threatened as Town cantered to third place in the Championship table.
