A real lot to learn about this division, but a fantastic result today.
Burgess was a rock at the back for me.
I think we will need to tighten up on the discipline a bit, or we will make it easy for referees to dish out the cards. We need 11 players to finish every match.

Did Hutchinson & Leigh not play PhilGav?

No Hutchinson on the player rankings?...he did come on. Jekyll and Hyde performance in my opinion but hopefully the lads will learn from this...sat far far too deep when they went down to 10. Saying that would have bitten my right hand off for 3 points before the game! Hladky MOTM...people over rank players particularly strikers just because they score a goal.

Hlacky a bit wobbly to start with but just like the rest of the team enhanced their performamnce as time went on. Couldnt understand the 13 minutes of time added on but that was perhaps my nerves playing amok. All heros tonight and clinical finishing by Broadhead and Hirst was the icing on the cake. The two centre backs excelled in that position. On this showing the Black Cats are definitely a top-six team. Amiri Hutchinson & Greig Leigh DID play on my TV and come on as sub? They. like us, will improve like a good wine. So CHEERS!
What a difference a division makes to the refereeing team - excellent except for booking Kieran!

Feared the worse after the first 15 minutes when we looked off the pace and over awed. However we gradually got into the game and looked more threatening in the final third. Great strike from Davis and Broadhead deftly deflected it into the net. Davis had a great effort with an earlier strike that nearly ended up on OG.

Second half we were more relaxed and for 30 minutes we were in charge and played the better football. Great goal from Hirst and how the ref did not give a penalty following Hirst being bundled over following a wonder strike from Chappers, I will never know. Maybe evened up the pen that Sunderland did not get in the first half when Donacian looked like he fouled their player. We seemed to fall apart a bit after the red card (again great play from Davis breaking from defence and out pacing their player).

There was never 13 minutes of extra time and boy that was a stressful time, however we deserved the win. Morsey and Davis were my joint MOM, however Burgess was a rock. Great save from Hladky at the end which made up for his earlier errors.

Good team effort Hladky gets MoM for me, understandably brry nervous early doors. Was brave with decision making and saved us at the end. Only negative was Freddie, was he wearing lead boots , so sluggish and not like him

I watched the full game back on Sunderland's YouTube channel. Apologies for reporting on here when not at the game.

Just going to mention the things that haven't been highlighted yet. Sam Morsy had to take a yellow card for the team due to a bad pass by Janoi Donacien. If he hadn't taken the other player out, we were in trouble. No way is Sam to blame for this yellow. Someone had commented elsewhere on the site that Sam had started picking up yellow cards. He simply had to take the yellow, and wasn't happy with Janoi at all.

No issues with anything else we did, except to know about and prepare for much longer games than 90 mins through our training regime - it was a superb performance by all players including substitutes. No more cramp in added time, please.

Hutchinson and Ladapo were both justified in going for goal, Ladapo's shot was about a foot over the bar, Hutchinson's was blocked. I don't think they had any sight of players waiting for the ball to be squared, just going for goal. One misplaced pass from Hutchinson straight out of play, that was it.

Just a great team performance and well done to all. We did a job on Sunderland. Great quote about their players' 'floppy hair' by whoever said it. Walk of shame by their player went sent off was great, too.
