The takeover by Gamechanger 20 Ltd - The training ground land
at 12:40 23 Mar 2021

He has a strong history of sitting on his hands too long and not making decisions when they need to made. That's why we're sitting here now in league one waiting for a new manager to start a new era at the end of March when it should have started months/years ago.

To try and drag out a deal until May when it has already been agreed in principle just because the season might suddenly come good would be pinnacle Evans. You just know he is going to balls this up and we'll still be floundering around between plans in a years time.

The normal stages of the process are laid out in my earlier post. You wouldn't notify the EFL unless you were fairly certain of the deal progressing. Although there maybe some finer points to iron out, you wouldn't be at that stage without agreeing the significant terms. Sunderland took almost 3 months from the EFL being notified to receiving approval. The takeover was formally announced very shortly afterwards.

To pull out now would signify something quite massive changing or maybe it is just an incompetent indecisive owner. Surprised Matt Slater is still confident nothing has changed though.

Newcastle incurred £500,000 costs in getting their takeover as far as it did. It's not a process you enter into lightly if you have any doubts about whether your really want to sell. Especially if you're as tight as Evans.

The EFL appear to have taken over 10 weeks to approve Sunderland's takeover, so it wouldn't necessarily have been completed by now, especially given ours is a consortium. The EFL approval would normally (but not always) be the rubber stamping stage, so I'm starting to doubt if it ever really reached that far if Evans is wriggling.

Not meaning to question the integrity of your reply, but that statement doesn't make much sense given you previously said the EFL had been notified of the takeover. To say that Evans doesn't really want to sell is a bizarre statement given the process and steps gone through to get to that stage.

The costs of getting a deal to the stage of being ratified by the EFL would be significant, and with Newcastle talking about taking BZI to court to recover their fee for effectively having their time waste, would Evans want to risk that on a whim?

Initially head of terms would have to be agreed, basically loosely outlining the terms of the agreement and start the due diligence process and a non-disclosure agreement. This would be part of the fee agreement. Next would be the sales purchase agreement which is a very extensive document structuring the agreed fee and clauses. The detail within that agreement would fine line everything. Once all this is done this is all done in principle then the EFL would be notified. So to go through all of that and at massive expense to then change your mind is nonsensical. Unless there is some doubt about the intentions or the funding the prospective purchasers have.

Deals can always break down at any stage, but to get to this late point in a deal and then realise you don't really want to sell would be very strange. Matt Slater who broke the news of the deal still stands by his statement that this is likely to go through, which make me wonder if Evans is leaking things in an attempt to restructure parts of the deal, or maybe the deal didn't get to EFL approval stage. I have to say if this really is Evans being indecisive then this could all backfire on him massively now fans are waiting on his exit.

Bobby Robson appointment as England manager.
at 14:23 1 Jun 2020

There must be some uncertainty about how loyal he actually was considering how many clubs he secretly met up with and how many jobs he was offered. He wrote that he accepted the Everton job but turned it down when it was leaked to the sun the next day, so he didn't feel he could trust them & duly tore up the £50k bribery cheque.

The list of clubs he met with to talk about job offers is quite long, with Everton, Leeds, Manchester United, Sunderland, Bilbao & Barcelona just from the top of my head. Whether he really wanted all those jobs or just liked the attention or leverage to get pay rises is debatable.

I do feel he knew the youth team production line was quickly drying up & he felt he had outgrown us to some extent. He openly admitted he considered Everton as a bigger more ambitious club and was keen to try his luck there.

With regards to the England job it came at a perfect time for him when he was looking to move on. Clough was the other candidate and admitted he was green with envy that Robson got offered the job. Clough went on to write some scathing articles about him (in the sun I think) which prompted Robson to offer his resignation so Clough could take over. The offer was declined but the scathing didn't.

Robson was part of the England setup for a few years prior to his appointment and beat Bob Paisley to become England 'B' manager and was part of the Greenwood's team that went to the 1982 world cup. During which he was offered the job, with the contract officially starting a couple of days after the world cup finished.

Does this mean Needham Market FC have stopped felching the Budgies?
at 13:49 10 Mar 2020

When Ipswich pinched the management of Norwich's Suffolk RDP they also block booked their Needham Market venue for their elite PDC boys, so they couldn't use it any more. Norwich's elite PDC is basically the same level as Ipswich's old PDP, so they also sneakily pinched the majority (if not all) of elite boys & created a new level at their centre and called it their "Advanced Training Centre" to help entice them across. It's all been done to put their foot down & reclaim the territory.
The Norwich Suffolk centres are still running across the county, but with a lot less boys & less boys of a quality that Ipswich would be interested in, either with a view to progressing, or for their future college programme.

"Bobby Robson had been keen to sell him to Sunderland towards the end of the 81-82 campaign, and it was clear that no new contract would be forthcoming as Ipswich were beset by financial problems. Mills began 1982-83 as captain but soon bowed to the inevitable and reluctantly moved on. His transfer to Southampton in November 1982 for £40, 000 brought to an end an Ipswich career spanning 17 years and 741 appearances, a record unlikely to be beaten in a hurry."

Are our youth teams alright compared to the scum?

There is a very short-term vision running throughout the club it would seem. Something that is going to bite them on the bum repeatedly unless they start listening to people soon.
